Italy: Bullied teen put into care for being gay

A bullied gay teenager in a small Italian town was put into care because of his sexuality.

According to the Il Messaggero website, the foster parents of the bullied 14-year-old were not sympathetic, and eventually put the teen back into care because of his sexuality.

The parents were quoted to have said: “It created too many problems – we can’t handle it, at school his classmates don’t accept it. Everyone says to us why do you bother?”

The teenager was put up for adoption, and back into care, because the parents did not wish to keep him on.

Italy remains weak when it comes to LGBT rights.

The country currently has no protections against anti-gay discrimination in public, in the provision of goods and services or against hate speech.

Sad, I hope that kid is OK and makes it through the tough times in his life.
He's better off without "parents" like that.

Yes, he probably is. Those must have been really loving foster-parents.

Hopefully he can get some gay/lesbian parents to have a good start into life and where he can find help, respect and learn self-respect.
