I agree that anyone who downloads significantly probably has pretty good broadband service and should be able to stay close to or better than 1.

my only problem is that I sometime download something and for some reason Vuze wont let it seed back to the site - I do download more than from this sit but I do want to help with the seeding

You may look in Vuze's Tools > Options > drop down Queue > drop down Seeding > First Priority > A share ratio under and set it to at least "1:1" (Ratio = 1.000 or 100%) or higher i/o the default 1:2 (Ratio = 0.500 or 50%).

That should keep them seeding in priority.

There are some basics to understand:

A/ With most internet accesses the download rate is much higher than the upload. This can only be compensated by seeding longer (without downloading, about 10x) or limiting the download rate in the torrent client programme

B/ It does not help to set it's torrent client programmes upload rate higher than 80% of your real internet access upload. In opposite. Nevertheless, make sure it is set to the 80% (or less if there are other P2P programmes sharing the access, the total of the setting should amount to 80%)

C/ The torrent selection impacts the upload. Many leecher and few seeder are good for upload, the opposite bad. The ratio is important not the absolute numbers. You could try to "surf the wave" as a member expressed, i.e. jumping very early on new torrents you like, others shall join and you seed to them

D/ Re-seeding (read restarting seeding) old torrents left by most seeder and having from time to time a downloader helps to keep ratio, too.

E/ Best is of course to upload a torrent for something missing here. Just keep the upload process in mind:

1/ Gather together the movie file, description and pictures of what is liked to upload a torrent
2/ Create a torrent from the file (or folder) you like to share. Use the built-in utility of the torrent client programme (e.g. µTorrent)
3/ Click "Upload" in the blue band on top, read carefully and choose "I have read and understood" on the bottom
4/ Fill in the web form. Each step got advise what to fill, at the end hit "Do it!"
5/ You will be lead to the description page. There re-Download the small Torrent file
6/ When you open the torrent, it shows likely a window with the download location, set it to your movie file loaction alternatively put the fie (or folder) into the default download location of the torrent programme before you open the torrent
7/ Start the torrent, keep seeding it, though no data traffic and wait for approval.

1. Seed torrents with few seeders and lots of leechers. New torrents with 1 seeder and 30 or so leechers are usually the best.
2. Upload(Ask a Mod for help if you can't figure it out)
3. Stop leeching when you get in ratio trouble.(This is usually a good place to start)
4. Donate to the site if you simply have to download before getting your ratio up.

There's nothing wrong with that, but nearly all ISP connections download much faster than they upload so that's most likely why your ratio isn't going up -a configuration problem can cause this too. The more you download without seeding back what you've downloaded, the more your ratio will lower. Seeding without downloading or seeding more than you've downloaded will make your ratio go up. It's best to seed seed seed during a warning period and lay off downloading. Build up a nice download buffer before downloading again.

The error you got while trying to upload a new torrent sounds like it was caused by trying to upload the data file (the movie) rather than the .torrent file in the "**Torrent file ***" field on the upload page.

Here is my advice. Use utorrent as a torrent downloader. When Your ratio is to small, click on a torrent You are actually leeching and in the Maximum Download Rate box enter for example 15 kB/s. Your download speed will slow to 15 kB/s. Make sure that in box Maximum Upload Rate is 0, which means that Your upload speed is unlimited (according to Your internet connection). You can always put in another value. Hope I helped.

I am desperately trying to up my ratio but every large leaching torrent nearly ends after I upload it.

The current vid I am trying to seed - "{SX Video} Double Fuck My Ass 2" shows 4 leachers but I am not seeding to any of them???

I am using TRANSMISSION on a MacBookPro and GT.ru is the only site I have any problem seeding to. I picked this vid because when I downloaded it it had a zillion leachers and I was sure I could improve my ratio but TRANSMISSION only shows a ratio of (0.10%) since downloading.

Since I am successful on other sites I am wondering if there is something I should be doing different on GT.ru?

btw, TRANSMISSION also shows the 4 leachers in the "Inspector" but it doesnt want to seed!

That torrent got as well more than 240 seeder, so the 4 leecher don't need to download from you.

You should try to seed torrents you've completed with less seeder per leecher, for example "Chaosmen - Heath & Jasper : Labor Day - FLIP .." the ratio is 10x better

Then you Transmission is not connectible for our tracker.
-You need to open the port it uses (see the Transmission connection settings yo know the number) in your firewall for incoming connections.

The portforwarding or Network Adress Translation (NAT) from your router (or WiFi access point which includes the router function) to your Mac must be as well configured correctly for your Mac's local IP and that port. Alternatively you can use UPnP (if your modem/router/AP supports it) and/or NAT-PMT (Apple Airport) to get it setup automatically

Being connectible eases the upload (and download). Without it isn't impossible, but works less well.

find new torrents with 1 seed and pref single digit leech.
chances are others will join in after you and you get to seed to them.
preference of cos will be if u actually wanna watch the vid.

even if theres alot of leech you most likely get to upload, just not as much as you will be able to.
it's even better if you can leave your torrent overnight, since your completed files will continue to seed to other people who hopped onto the train late.

another way (not as good) is to throttle your download so that your uploads can keep up with the ratio. The downside is that it will take longer to finish the vid for watching.

nothing beats actually uploading a non-duplicated vid/file though! You're guaranteed to at least upload 100% of the file size (usually more).
not to mention people get to send you gift seed bonus that you can change for uploaded traffic. 350 for 5gb uploaded.

… tried to research my issues and discovered my "Network: Peer listening port:" is CLOSED!!! I have followed the easy steps to try to remedy it all but failed :cry2: the next step is going onto TRANSMISSIONS forum and sending them some data file to see if they can figure out what the issue is... then try to follow their instructions and :cheesy2:

At this moment in time I got a year of two very sick parents to take care of... a 40 year old fridge trying to die on me and what looks like a very very very cold winter!

I might try looking thru my large library for a new HOT HOT HOT vid that isnt on here already (but you guys have absolutely E V E R Y T H I N G :blind: ) to upload (or just take a break :hug: and figure it all out laterz...

I just changed from Vuse to uTorrent (Mac) because Vuse randomly drops seeds. I want to re-seed the files I've downloaded but not sure if the mod will allow since they are duplicate. How do I re-seed them so I can get my ratio back up?

Let me say it again:

re-seed does not mean re-upload!!!

re-seeding means to just actively seed the old torrent in your client. If you don't have the old torrent file any longer - just re-download the torrent file again from our tracker (you can re-download your already completely snatched torrents even if your download rights are taken away). There is no upload involved in re-seeding an existing torrent thus the question of duplicate uploads is not relevant. There is no difference in your upload traffic if you re-seed an existing torrent or upload a new torrent.

How are you liking uTorrent(Mac)? I have always and only used Transmission as that was recommended on another gay torrent site years ago.
