Seeding files
-
Hi Guys,
What effect good or bad is there on the network by seeding a large number of files?
Is there an optimum number of files to seed at the same time?
Is there a "rule of thumb" for the number of files to seed simultaneously?
and
Is there a topic I should have read regarding this question? -
For any torrent seeding the optimal connection is to give each person uploading from you 3.0 - 4.0 kB/s.
That is for each UPLOAD slot not for each torrent.
So for instance, if you are seeding "Acme Movie," and your bittorrent client shows 5 people your connected with you should be giving each uploader about 3.0 kB/s or 15kB/s for the entire torrent

3kB per person per torrent is extremely slow.
Imagine if you are trying to upload a dvd 9 at that speed.
If you use uTorrent, you can set it up for your connection speed and it does a pretty good job at seeding on it's own.
