      Hey guys, I have a question about making sure my account is active and safe from being deleted… hoping someone can help.

      I'm going away to college in the fall and we're not allowed to use torrents up there otherwise the university blocks our internet connection and we're not able to get online. This means that I won't be able to download or upload anything while I'm there.

      I was reading through the FAQ's and saw that accounts that are inactive after 180 days are automatically deleted. Does this mean that I MUST upload/download in order to keep my account? Or is the account also considered "active" by just logging in a using other features (i.e. the forums, chat, etc?), as I won't be able to UL/DL while on campus?

      Thanks for your help! I appreciate it. 🙂

        Logging in from time to time is enough, just make sure you don't use a PC another member is using to login on his account.

          I believe the period is still 180 days.

            Yes, for accounts which have upload / download of data in their history.

              Thanks… just wanted to make sure. I'll be using my own laptop.

                Hi,

                Sorry to jump in on an existing thread, but as my question is related it seemed untidy to start a new one.

                I'm in the unfortunate position that I waited for months to join and, within a day or so of my finally managing to do so, my PC suffered a terminal colapse. So I haven't been able to upload/download at all yet, while I desperately save for a new PC.

                I understand that unused a/c's are pruned after 90 days rather than the above mentioned 180 days. I hope to be up and running in that time but I can't be 100% sure I'll manage it. In the meantime I can use a friend's PC to occassionally log in (he definately isn't a user himself) but is this enough to keep an UNUSED a/c active? Or must I actually start to download/upload within the 90 days? I realize that this is an unusual situation and it could look like I joined but am not really interested; nothing could be further from the truth!

                I'd be grateful for any advice. I'm currently saving for the best PC I can viably afford, but if I MUST start downloading rather than just logging in occassionally I may be tempted to go for a cheaper PC to get active more quickly.

                Thanks!

                  @y2kboi:

                  … omitted ...

                  Just logging in should keep your account alive. 🙂

                    Many Thanks! Thats a relief.

                    Hopefully I'll be actually sharing soon.

                      Just one word to assure the current "assumptions":

                      @TwjT3NEc:

                      Just logging in should keep your account alive. 🙂

                      It not only should, it will 🙂

                      The period is in fact 180 days for active accounts - that is: for accounts with a download/upload of more than 2 GB. Not active accounts will be pruned 90 days after their last login to the site.

                      But you will also get a reminder mail around once a month after your last login to remind you to login to our site.
