And I will have to admit to assuming too much when I look at forum posts. It honestly never occurred to me that anyone other than gay men would be using the site or the forum. Knowing that there are lesbians, straight gals, maybe even straight guys? on the forum makes it all more interesting, if a bit scarier. The assumption of gayness was what allowed me to open up in the forum, to "others like me." Probably why I came off a little mean in my first post to tamaochan, perceiving an invasion. I'll get over it, and the discussions will be better because of it.

I wonder how many others in the forum also make the "everyone here is gay" assumption? I wonder if it matters?

As for assuming, well, being that we live in a largely heteronormative world, I can't blame you in the least for assuming that the only people here were gay men. And honestly, that too has been part of what has kept me from posting in the forums. The absolute last thing I'd ever want to do is encroach on someone's "safe space" you know? If it makes you feel better, here are a couple of things that I think you can still safely assume: one, that the vast majority of the people here are in fact gay men and two, anyone on this forum who isn't a gay man is bound to be pretty gay friendly, otherwise why would they be here? I sincerely hope that I haven't changed the nature of the forums for anyone by admitting that I'm a straight girl, I would feel so bad about that.

while it may be true that the veracity of the contents of most internet forums, sites, articles, opinions, etc. are questionable, it is also true that a lot of our previously held ideas or norms about a lot of things on this life are being reshaped and challenged everyday. (ex: a couple of hundred years ago people thought the world was flat or homosexuality was considered abnormal or AIDS was caused by gays, etc.) (or "if you love me, you'll swallow?" LOL)

no one can really say for sure if these ladies are who they really claim to be but if what they are claiming are true then let's just be thankful that our fixed notions of likes/dislikes are being re-defined and its boundaries being widened.

this is a good thing. it means that we have evolved. maybe one day these boundaries will disappear and we will finally be happy living our lives the way we want it to be without the confines of having to live it according to "labels" (gay, straight, bi, etc.) and according to fixed forced norm based on antiquated ideas or religiously defined rules.

besides, human beings are complex creatures. there's still a lot of aspects of our being human that are only vaguely understood while some are a complete mystery.

I agree except for number three. I'm pretty sure a lot of straight guys can enjoy a girl on girl film with no men involved. You only have to look at how many girl on girl films exclusively without men in them of any type are produced to know this. If guys didn't like it, the porn studios wouldn't produce them. actually, my previous views were based on generalizations since we don't really know the OP and i don't really know you but those generalizations are actually based on the majority of women.

i do agree about the stigma faced by women regarding double standards. it has been part of people's patriarchal culture to be lenient to males regarding sexuality while being very strict, harsh and unfair to women. and it's sad to note that even with the improvements we have these past few decades as a people, that unfair labeling of liberated women as sluts/whores/nymphomaniacs is still prevalent in some parts of the world.

in fact, by definition, the best sexual experience (sexual intercourse) (according to studies) happens between a female and another female.

they postulated that the act of sexual intercourse is basically just the use of our tools and its manipulation. which means, if you both have the same tools, you already know how it works and use already proven techniques to make it work. male and female homosexuals have this advantage but females, unlike males, have a very wonderful sexual response cycle in which, when properly stimulated, can give them multiple orgasms (as opposed to males who must deal with the plateau phase after ejaculation). plus, since females are generally caring, gentle, accepting, warm, verbally expressive, etc. then these qualities will enhance the sexual experience.

honestly, i don't have anything specific.

but the general idea is that we all have different likes/dislikes and these happen to be like they are because of our previous experiences growing up at home, in the community, school, etc. and our experiences dealing with life in general and other people.

i haven't come across a study or article about this unusual phenomenon but if i have to guess i'd say:

1. curiousity (we are, after all, a curious lot)
2. penis envy for lesbians (i don't want to take heat for this. blame freud! i only mean the general idea of having the power the men have in a strongly patriarchal society. ) and gay guys wanting to be the kind of person that they are feeling (a girl trapped in a boy's body which is not standard for all gays).
3. maybe they just find it funny, maybe?

This I concede, however it is more popular than you might think. I read somewhere that in Germany for example, gay male porn is very popular with women, so much so, that they commonly get together to watch it. I think the Kinsey report comes to the conclusion that for the most part everybody is somewhat bisexual, not just females. But I would probably agree with you that women are probably more open to that than men. But again I think that has a lot to do with social conditioning.
