Tattoos and filthy sex

Hi, I have noticed that a number of the BDSM or Fetish featured movies usually involve guys (mostly tops) that always have tattoos. Is this a sub-culture thing? I am in midwest US and do not have any markings (am a bottom). I am interested in opinoins and\or a discussion on this. Just think it interesting.

Good question - certainly influenced as a cultural thing I would imagine - Do you recall " Flagging " wearing colour bandanas in your back pocket , respectfully … side placed - a way of advertising - I pay attention to ink over the years - placement, colour , design ........... I see tattoos as a right of passage , reminder - mental commitment scribed for public display - I like to think all tattoos have meaning - what meaning depends on the individual
Hyper masculinity - and over the years , certainly very popular - tribal design markings ever present - how deep a meaning .. dunno for sure ....
i do see quite a bit of " Bottoms " as you say have tattoos as well - many European films - many fisting vids , many of the guys have plenty of tattoos and very versatile they are - I will like to see this get discussed further - dunno if this site will lend itself to it though

I think it could also have something to do with the fact that, for example, twink movie producers who want a fresh young innocent look will avoid casting models with tattoos.
In real life, I've encountered people of all kinds of sub cultures with tattoos. Unless a bottom has "fuck hole" tattooed on his arse, for example, I think it's just the individual expressing themselves rather than doing it just to fit in with a particular scene.
