Good to find this page, I did my first download from here today, and chose a 200Mb file that a few people were also taking, now I find everyone has gone and no one is leeching from me, so my initial ratio is stuffed for today.
Tomorrow I will try again and if anyone can suggest a good torrent to bump up my ratio feel free to let me know. Meanwhile I will go and read the "how to bump your ratio" topic
I am on a 7.6 Mbps connection and am more than happy to share my bandwidth back.

Any torrents with few seeders and lots of leechers will most likely help your ratio.
Browse, then select "Numbers of leecher" in "Sort by" and click Search/Refresh. -
Another good way, I think, is to download the freshly uploaded torrents.

hi, i just registered and tried to download a movie. unfortunately, i'm getting this error message:
Failure: Unregistered torrent pass
Did I do something wrong?

You are seeding 1 file and leeching another. Did you fix the problem?
If not, post the link to the torrent you are having problems with.

Howdy
I am new to this site and downloading torrents in general. I have found your forum article and found it very informative. Until I figure out how to upload Torrents, I want to make sure I do things correctly. I am a bit of a "techno idiot" and just want to clarify that I am understanding the ratios correctly.
Here is the data and notice apearing on my browser:

" You have 8 Days left to higher your Ratio before your Download rights get disabled!
To fix that, read the Rules/FAQ or Donate and help us staying alive "Can I improve my ratio by leaving BitTorrent open and seeding but not downloading till my ratio is better balanced, does the warning go away and do I have to keep my webpage open to gaytor.rent. In order to maintain a connection for seeding and recieve credit?

Yes, you can as long as you have other leechers wich will request uploads from you. If you can't bring your ratio to an acceptable minimum (0.35) your download rights are taken automatically by the system, but even then you can also reseed other videos you have downloaded before. If you don't have the torrents anymore, you are still allowed to redownload those torrents again, you had downloaded before.
does the warning go away
The warning will be removed, when your ratio reaches 0.35 again or after 10 days (whichever comes first). As said before, in the second case your download rights are taken away too.
do I have to keep my webpage open to gaytor.rent. In order to maintain a connection for seeding and recieve credit?
Not your webbrowser, but your bittorrent client. That programm will care about your torrent connections.

I have downloaded a file. it shows as a DAT…..how do I use it?

Is the dat-file called something like ~uTorrentPartFile_1E50C5000.dat?
If yes, that means that you've selected to only download certain files of the torrent in question. The actual movie is the rmvb-file. -
.dat files are also cd files and can be burned on to a cd with ease.
Just be sure you are using a part file {as mentioned by Foof} vs a cd file.

There are three ways to improve your Ratio:
1.  Seed torrents with a lot of leechers, or torrents with very few or no other seeders.
2.  Upload a new torrent , make sure you use "Search" to prevent duplicates, and make sure that you are not seeding or leeching anything else until 3 or 4 others have snatched the complete file. (Read the rules!)
3.  The easiest way to improve you ratio is to click on the "Donate" on the top blue stripe. Make a contribution to the site to help defray the hundreds of Euros (dollars) a month it costs to keep this site on the internet.

Joined today - great site!
I've downoaded my first torrent, it was 237MB and downloaded very quickly indeed.
I want to start off on the right foot but the upload rate is bad and therefore not uploading very quickly at all (0.008).
Are there any suggestions for improving this?
Also, do I need to get this upload balanced ratio wise before a 2nd download?
Finally, is there anywhere that the latest uploads are flagged so people needing to improve ratio can go and get seeded?

nope…..but you must try to get to your "Current minimum ratio" (which you will find on your profile page) as soon as possible or your download rights will be taken away.....

there isn't a place for that per-say but the latest torrents come at the top of the list on the 'torrent page' when you click the "Browse" or "Search" buttons seen on the blue bar at the top of any page…..
-----> but i should add that the latest torrents will show up according to what you have set the default in your profile....
for example in your profile if you have not chosen 'music' to show up in your search results then it will not show when you go to the "browse" page..... -
