Porn is porn. I don't watch porn for the story line because the term "porn actor" is an oxymoron. I especially hate when they keep looking at the camera during sex, like they don't know how to fuck without instructions.

The issue of theme movies is a mixed bag.

I must say this now, without a doubt, the greatest theme movie ever is Beautiful Thing.

I hate how so many of the theme movies end in horrible ways, ie Brokeback Mountain or Latter Days. Why do so many end with one of the main characters being murdered or committing suicide?!

Third Man Out {part of the gay detective series} is good because the main characters are gay, but they are more than just a couple of fags on love romp. They are shown to be helping society as a whole, not just a few fags looking for their next bit of cock.

Neither do I. Its so horrible to be cruel to gays. Have seen Come undone or Coming out yet? They end with open ending. The main characters were seperated at the end but the movies leave us some thing to hope, to believe that men who love each other will end up in a happy way. Sometimes I feel awkward cause they all start like fairy tales, suddenly you find you love of the lifetime in the middle of nowhere, but then, I think life sometimes needs fairy tales to lessen its misery.

the last two post…best example of how many peeps just want the happily ever after crap...

you want to see the happily but don't want to know about the after...

I'm glad some movies give you a less pleasant ending is more realistic...

and actually Latter Days...had a happy ending...and brokeback mountain....just shows how miserable things can be if you are in the closet...LOL...realistic movie but still crap....

YES, I want realism. Not every gay man is miserable or end up dead like most of the gay movies.

Going by the theme movies out there, 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of us are either murdered, commit suicide or are forever alone.

I'll have to watch Latter Days again, because I don't remember any happy ending just the Mormon guy committing suicide.

Of course then there's just pure trash like Butch Camp.

I bet that all gay men end up dead, sooner or later. 😛

I am a gay in closet and I'm dying to come out but just can't. That's partly why I prefer gay themed movies with happy endings. Not all American gay themed movies end happily e.g. BBM. Don't need to be so hard Derek. You also want to be happy, don't you? To smile at the end of a movie is better than to leave the cinema sorrowfully, isn't it?

dude it depends on the movie…i rather have a movie shock me with the ending..that have the expected happy endings...

but compare to other countries...America/USA have the tendency to have happy endings....thats changing a bit..which is good..but it gets to predictable...

                      shock me baby...LOL

                      and dude...I"m the happiest son of ....in the world... :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Unless i'm really horny i'd go for a themed movie. The reason is that there's usually a logic behind these film these films.

One of them even got me to cry, it was "Star crossed" a short film.

Inspires? well I would have to say themed movies (you could have guest that answer from the things i've uploaded)

I do have to admit I do enjoy Porn but I wouldn't say that it 'Inspires' me to do anything but touch myself…

I've got more porn than you can shake a stick at, but its all more or less the same. Whichever one I open first, even a crap one, will usually do the job.

Out of 500+ themed movies on my hard drives there's admittedly a lot of crap. (I still can't figure out why Kiss Me, Guido was such a popular download.) But the potential for real artistic expression is there.

I just downloaded The Wedding Banquet, a movie I first saw as a closeted teenager in the suburbs of New Jersey. Movies like that or like Jeffrey, real or not, made me feel like there was a whole other world out there. Now I watch them for the same reasons anyone watches a nonporn movie. To be entertained and maybe even a little inspired.

Raphjd, they're not all so gloomy. I mostly prefer the touchy, feely, boy gets boy, happy ending themed movies and there are plenty of those out there.
