The new diagnoses and codes will help provide needed documentation of the harms of transgender procedures and facilitate an avenue of recovery for these young people. The CDC update comes after medical watchdog group Do No Harm helped the CDC establish the codes.

“The codes we proposed, and the CDC has now released, will significantly enhance and refine patient care to ensure those desisting from gender dysphoria are properly recognized,” said Kurt Miceli, MD, chief medical officer at Do No Harm. “Likewise, giving detransitioners visibility in the medical system will help them get the medical attention they need and open the door for proper coverage and real-world research into the impact of sex-rejecting interventions. For too long our medical system has allowed the plight of detransitioners to be invisible; these new codes will give them light and help them achieve the top-notch care they deserve.”

There has been an “official blindness to the very existence of detransitioners,” Do No Harm stated in an article addressing the need for medical codes for those who want to try to reverse their injuries. While many of the interventions are irreversible, like voice changes, fertility, and especially mutilation surgeries, there is a degree to which some can be undone to give the detransitioners something closer to a normal life.

Remember: Adults are one thing, kids are another.

Actually, there have been and are lawsuits in several countries by people who detransitioned after having surgery as a minor.

1. only USA, leaves out EU & UK before their bans had effect
2. is only up to 2023 - leaves out 2024 and whatever continued in 2025-26 before Trump bans had effect.

The policy calls for Medicaid and CHIP to continue to pay for mental health treatment for transgender minors but phase out coverage of hormone treatments [and puberty blockers]

Puberty blockers are permanent / not reversible. They give lifelong damage: sterility, tinydick, osteoporosis, stunted growth / dwarfism.

LUKE HEALY: Exposed to online transgender communities at age 10, identified as a girl by 13. Parents blocked medical transition as a minor. Started estrogen, then realized doctors were selling procedures “like a car salesman.”

CLEMENTINE BREEN: Doctors told her parents she was “100% trans” at 12. Blockers and testosterone at 13, double mastectomy at 14. Mental health collapsed. Her doctors ghosted her as soon as she started to detransition.

LAYLA JANE: Put on Lupron and testosterone at 12, double mastectomy at 13. Permanent nerve pain and night terrors. Her lawsuit was thrown out based on the statute of limitations.

SYDNEY AVILES: Identified as trans at 14 after online exposure. Hormones and double mastectomy by 18. Developed hypothyroidism and sky-high cholesterol. Detransitioned and still fighting to get her birth certificate changed back to female.

ROSE MARIE: Homeless foster teen. Affirmed at LGBTQ center, got testosterone via 15 minute app appointment. Injected for 4 years. Detransitioned in 2025 with permanent voice change, fatigue, and irregular cycles. Now homeless again.
