Few people remember this, but the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain had a travelling food oriented show. In one episode, he went to Ukraine (years before the war broke out). He showed that Ukraine was a very rough place, and not even safe to walk the streets in many parts. Ukraine has been in a state of civil war for decades. It was so unstable, that Putin really HAD to invade.
Notice that while NATO is supplying weapons to Ukraine, NATO does not want Ukraine as part of NATO, and Ukraine has no interest in being part of NATO. Ukraine is essentially a land of fraud and piracy. The USA showed no interest in Ukraine (except for funneling money to the Bidens) until AFTER Russia invaded.
