Officers found Burke clapping and smiling as she was drenched in her 67-year-old father's blood, telling police that the butchery was an "act of liberation," according to authorities.
Court documents state that Burke allegedly strangled, bit, and hacked her father Timothy Burke to death with an ice pickaxe around 8 pm on Nov. 5. She then sat down next to her father to watch him die. Burke told police that the killing "had to happen today," saying that she carried out the slaying to "help people change their attachment to their parents," court records said.
