In the old days, it meant girls. But that was back in the days when people were either boys or girls. Those were the days! Imagine the horror of thinking that the girl you are chatting up at a club has a huge cock... and later find out that the girl has a vagina! EWW!!

@john32123666 well.. that would be synonymous with being a sissy or femboy.
Words take on new meanings over time. I found this website that seems to be referring to lesbians as "girlies". I think it's one of those labels that doesn't have a clear meaning.
My best guess at a definition is someone who is in some way female, but there is something about them which is not entirely female.
