@raphjd If Gates weren't disgusting in other ways (cough, deadly vaxx), this would be a great quote:

“There’s a lot of climate exaggeration,” said Gates at a recent event. “The climate is not the end of the planet. So the planet is going to be fine...no temperate country is going to become uninhabitable."

If people want to worry about something... consider this. the population of the world is now about 8 billion. The ideal population is said to be 500 million. The maximum population the earth can sustain is 20 billion. The population will be 20 billion within 100 years. It goes up by about a billion every 12 years and is accelerating. https://www.alamy.com/a-graph-showing-the-worlds-rapidly-increasing-population-from-1700-to-the-present-day-and-extending-into-2048-when-the-global-population-is-projected-to-reach-9-billion-the-worlds-population-first-reached-1-billion-in-1804-image458814202.html?imageid=BCD6AA74-145B-4CA2-A6CF-9AD74114FAE7&p=471895&pn=1&searchId=c9343fb476c391ec3512b569893d99f9&searchtype=0

@lololulu19 Again I disagree. The bigger our population, the more we can sustain a technological & space-faring civilization.

"Population crisis" is no more worth worry, than "climate crisis".

@lololulu19 Moon (sustained presence - not just tourist selfies), Mars, asteroids. LOTS of resources out there. Entire solar system literally made of resources - for our benefit.

But economic web at home, as a base for sustained efforts, must be very wide & deep. Elon figures we need a population of 16 billion & climbing, living in relative freedom ie. economic development & rule of law.

Idea that a small population could do it -IF- correctly "enlightened" & indoctrinated, is neo-Marxist fantasy. (Star Trek garbage)
