Robert Clary - Auschwitz survivor and Hogan's Heroes star dies aged 96
-
He was the only member of his immediate family to survive Auschwitz. He was the youngest of 14 kids, to Orthodox Jewish parents. I have no idea about his extended family.
It took 36 years for him to talk publicly about his experiences during the Holocaust. He said he only came forward because he could no longer allow Holocaust deniers to spread their lies.
He was the last surviving member of the Hogan's Heros cast.

Four other Hogan's Heroes cast members were of Jewish heritage--those playing Col. Klink, Sgt. Schultz, Maj. Hochstetter, and Gen. Burkhalter. Hollywood is a strange place.
