I saw this post linked on a Thai actor's Twitter page. I watched the video and I liked what the woman said. I'm not sure yet what is going on so I'm not sure if she is on the right or wrong.

Are gays being blamed again for something they don't mean to? What's with the books and library?

There has been some cases where drag queens have done bad things around kids at these "family friendly" events. I posted about some of them.

One of the problems was the DQ who did story time with a short skirt and no knickers. There have been convicted pedos doing these shows. A recent one is Texas was a DQ performing routine that was sexually graphic for a family brunch show.

In the UK, they hired a gay circus troop to do a reading event for kids. The "ring leader" was dressed like a slut, the monkey had his ass out and a big old dildo in the front, fully exposed.

@raphjd Oh my! Well, that definitely is not appropriate for that kind of audience. I would definitely be upset if I was there with children. 😱

They would definitely be not in their right mind to do that in front of children. 😤

Generally, I'm not opposed to drag shows for kids, but it needs to be age appropriate and checks need to be done to prevent sex offenders from being part of it.

As for books in the library, there have been cases in the US where school libraries have had sexually graphic books available for kids as your as 6yo to check out. We had that discussion here. The excuse is that even though it was that even though 6yos could check it out, none had so it was no big deal. Even stranger is that if the books were in a public library, they would have to be sectioned off and proof of age would be needed to check them out, but in schools that's not an issue.

              @raphjd Opinions can vary - it's cool.

I am 100% opposed to drag shows for kids.

First, remember, they're kids - Captive audience, don't know any better, can't escape, easily misled, very easily scarred.

Second - Drag is just gay blackface.

Would you oppose minstrel shows for kids? I would.

Minstrelsy was rarely, if ever, openly hostile to blacks. It was always "just fun - what the heck is wrong with you? We're only having good clean fun, killjoy." What made it racist was

              1. the stereotyping of blacks
              2. the fact that white performers were presuming to do it.

Re-read the above switching to female stereotypes displayed & lampooned by male performers.... "with love", of course, "in fun".....do you see how drag is the same as minstrelsy? A deeply sexist form of entertainment.

If you're an adult, OK drag out, "you do you". After all, libs still blackface. Here's Justin Trudeau, Canada PM & world-famous lib, in blackface: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-votes-2019-trudeau-blackface-brownface-cbc-explains-1.5290664

But with kids, yeah there's that & the added curse of the sexualization/grooming thing.

The drag queen's name is what it is - "Pussy Galore" or whatever - I know they're more original & varied than that - but always a sexual innuendo - no getting around that part.

And it gets worse from there: https://twitter.com/uhler_jon/status/1583313203521794048

The whole point of drag-for-kids is, inject extreme sexual awareness into young kids, breaking down societal boundaries around sex & age. Some call that activism, others (rightly) call it grooming.

It can never be made family-friendly. Or not-sexist either.
