I've been considering shaving my butthole but not be eager to get a razor near it. Would a chemical work? Is there a way to test to make sure i"m not allergic?

It has much less to do with if you're allergic to the hair-removal product, and much more to do with the sensitivity of the skin surrounding and comprising the external anal sphincter.

In short, applying a cream -- strong enough to dissolve robust hair! -- around your anus can easily result in holy hellfire if left on too long, or if it gets on the mucosal tissues.

FYI: Butt hair, like pubic hair, can help prevent chafing. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chafing_(skin) ]
These thick, coarse hairs protect patches of skin from rubbing against each other.
This is why some people have thicker hair between their butt cheeks — it helps prevent painful chafing and irritation.

Removing hair that grows around the butt has some risks associated with it.
Most risks and side effects are mild, however, and should subside on their own with no or limited medical intervention.

Avoid getting Nair inside your [vaginal canal] or near your rectum to reduce chances of infection.

Working with caustic cream in such a small delicate area requires precision and careful timing. I would suggest before applying the Nair, cover the delicate mucus membrane with a thick blob of vaseline, to act as a barrier so the depilatory doesn't get too close for comfort. Read the container instructions well, and reduce the time suggested for the application. You can always repeat another day if you need to.

@pecslover I have done what you want to do, and I regretted it. I would not recommend using any depilatory around your anus. You will end up with chemical burns on delicate mucosa down there.

Instead, I recommend that if you live in or near a major metropolitan area, you go to one of the guys who do waxing and shaving of men's privates. It's not cheap, but you will be nice and smooth around your hole afterwards, and while it hurts a little to have the hairs pulled out down there around your anus and on your taint, it's not as bad as coping with chemical burns for days afterwards.

            Good luck!

nair or veet would be a safe bet over a razor at times, maybe do a sample patch before commiting to the whole thing

How can it be a "safe bet," when the poster directly above you provides a personal account of using these products, and regrets it due to chemical burns?

@flozen because if you read what I put I said it can be a safe bet over a razor at times. I then commented to avoid a burn test a sample area as he may have extra sensitive skin.

I know a few people who by personal account, use the products with great results, so thanks for your input, but no thank you!

I gotta say I've tried one time and nothing happened, I wonder if it was expired or anything, or if it was just too much hair for it to handle. But absolutely nothing happened at all.

You should only use products made specifically for your delicate bits.
