My hometown is getting limited doses and I hope to get the monkeypox vaccine soon. Was wondering if there are side effects.

I haven't had it, but I have looked online about it.

Due to the lack of supply, no country is pushing full scale vaccinations, at least for now. Most countries are only giving the vaccines to those who treat people with the disease, immuno-compromised, or other factors that make you at high risk.

According to the CDC, there are only a few side effects for either vaccine. These mostly consist of soreness, redness, and pain at the injection site. ACAM2000 also has rash, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. All of these are only supposed to last a couple of days.

It is still not implemented here maybe because of the just held national election.

But I had my 2nd booster shot last June 2

I got the first round dose at the beginning of the month and I'm waiting to get my second dose at the start of September. No side effects except more tenderness at the injection site than what I had from the covid vaccine. Tenderness lasted about a week or so.

Original poster here. I was able to get the first shot about a month ago. Not surprisingly, the fellow people waiting in line made it seem like a Grindr home page screen come to life - mostly 20's and 30's white guys with slamming bodies. I think if I had opened Grindr while standing in line, the app would have spontaneously combusted.

Anyway, I got the original dosage method so the nurse went in deep with the needle. She must have grazed a nerve as my arm twitched when she it something with the needle tip. No real muscle soreness after.

2nd dose has been delayed as the city has been prioritizing first doses.
