Howdy, y'all

@djsoapbubble - Thank you for the welcome.
Our local video rental store used to stock porn videos, with a small percentage of those bi and gay titles. Renting one of those videos was a bit embarrassing, since you were always wondering what the clerk was thinking, but I still remember watching "Chip Off the Old Block," "Brian's Boys, "Rodeo," and a few others back in the day.
Then I moved to a larger city, porn on VHS really took off, and a visit to an x-rated bookstore offered much more variety than those few lonely videos that I had been accustomed to. Nothing at all compared to the quantity and variety that are regularly available today, of course.
I can't help you with Skynmen, as I never collected those. I do have 104 of the Treasure Island Media videos. I'm not sure what you mean by watermarks, as I don't think I've ever seen any.

@ferreiro - Where I lived in the Midwest, there was one video rental place that had a few gay x-rated videos and that was all that was available without driving a few hours.
When I moved to a larger city, it was easier. And now, of course, porn is everywhere.

@nf16 Oh, sorry. I design logos and all that stuff. So, I somewhat specialize in graphic design, etc. Watermarks are kind of like logos, but I'd like to think of watermarks more as a stamp than anything else. When it comes to porn, when you see Gay-Top.net or GayWorld.org located somewhere else in addition to the studio logos, that's the watermark. I don't mind watermarks that much, but when they're located on the upper-left or right-hand corner, or when they're flying across the screen every 15 seconds from left to right or right to left, it gets really annoying, lol!
I design logos, so dissing on watermarks is somewhat contradictory to what I do. BUT, when they're all over the chalkboard when watching adult films is so completely unnecessary. When I upload, I want peeps on here to get the good stuff, lol!
I used to work at an adult novelty store back in the day. I didn't really care what the customers were buying or renting out movies. Come to think of it, there were several private video rooms too, so customers would need their quarters. And I remember an undocumented older Latina who would get paid in cash for her cleaning services. I could tell by the look on her face that she wasn't happy, but being undocumented, it's all about survival, so she cleaned those rooms and didn't say one word. I did like the sexy businessmen who would always come in, but I could never compete as they loved their she-males. That job was very short-lived, but I did like it because I never really had to deal with the public, unlike regular retail or restaurant work where customer service is completely different. The patrons at the adult novelty stores come in and mind their own business and that's it, lol!

@djsoapbubble - Ah, got it, and you're right about the annoyance factor. And, of course, it's just a bit rude to stamp your own watermark onto someone else's work.
Personally, I'm most annoyed at the ridiculous intros that some of those idiots preface their rips with, most notably the one that starts with the massively loud musical chord, repeated multiple times. Thankfully, those intros can be stripped off pretty easily, unlike the embedded watermarks.
Most of the stuff I have was ripped several years ago so, thankfully, missing both the watermarks and the intrusive intros.
Oh yes ... the back room of the adult bookstore. That brings back memories. I definitely would not have wanted to be on the cleaning staff.

¡Jajajaja! -
@nf16 Well, the watermarks for Gay-Top.net or GayWorld.org are there to basically say: "We have the rights to distribute this film or short clip and distribute it to the public without copyright infringement." It is downloadable for people to have. I can't remember right off the top of my head, but they do pay a nice amount for it. For me, I just find some of their videos to be of poor quality in addition to the watermarks that are flying all over the screen like Tinkerbell in Peter Pan.
I think I know that ridiculous intro from Gay-Top.Net. It's greenish and black glossy and makes you feel like you're in some sci-fi movie like Terminator 2: Judgement Day? Whoever came up with that decision is just terrible. That music intro has NOTHING to do with porn, lol!
-
@djsoapbubble Huh ... I didn't know that they had purchased the rights.
I was reminded of this when I was reviewing the Animan videos I uploaded. Three of them had a logo fly across the screen in the middle of the video. Pretty annoying.
Thanks for the info, and for the rest of the edifying and entertaining conversation.

@nf16 Oh, yeah of course! I'm a social bug anyway believe it or not. Welcome to the site, mister!
