Why? Why are so many novels written by supposed Female writers? Are they making up for the lack of cross dressing , cross gendered............ er......................people who cannot make it in the mainstream novel world? I'm a gay, Man's Man not some drag queen loving limp wristed wanker. Can someone really tell me the reason why the names of authors are female? Is this some new perversion of the gay world that the YAnks are foisting on the rest of the world like the detestable word "Queer" that we seem to now have to put up with.

I'm really, genuinely really interested in the answer.

@nancledra53 Probably the wrong forum category considering this is Requests. But anyway, I think its not really a new thing. It's the same when you compare Yaoi and Bara. Yaoi is this feminine, romanticized, often by women for women (and gay men). Meanwhile Bara is by men for men, featuring masculinity and such. I suppose women just love to write the smutty romance stuff more than men, or at least get featured more often due to the sheer volume.

EDIT - staff note: I moved this to the correct section. - raphjd

As you state a "genuine" interest in the matter, could you provide the titles/authors of several gay novels written under female pen names that have bothered you lately?

Then, this Yank could offer some appropriate commentary.

I don't think it's as big an issue that you seem to think it is.

I seriously doubt that even 5% are written by men using female pen names.

I have met several female authors over the years, due to my love of getting autographed stuff. I never got the feeling that any of them were just "faces" for someone else.
