Idris Elba's "Luther" isn't black enough to be real, says BBC Diversity Chief
-
Despite originally being a white character, Idris Elba was given the role (black washing) of "DCI John Luther", Miranda Wayland (black-tavist and BBC Diversity Chief) says that the character wasn't black enough.
Her comments were based on the character not being a stereotyped black person.
If I said the same thing, I would be called a racist.
Also, the creator of "DCI John Luther" said that race was not an issue when writing the stories, but rather it was about the cases and Luther's obsession in solving them.
