French literature

Hi! I started to learn the french about 2 years ago and I think about some easy french literature. I tried to read "La peste" A. Camus, but it's too hard at this level. Could you recommend some easy literature? Especially contemporary literature and belles-lettres which don't contain a lot of old words that are not used.

Hello ! I don't read a lot of french literature even though i've got myself a little collection of books that I read throughout the years, and so concerning the XIXth century (not the XXth like A. Camus) i have some easy french books to suggest : the first one is "Le Rouge et le Noir", a lot of people said that it was really easy to read but also really long, i did not personnally read it so I can't really tell you if I liked it or not. The second is "Pierre et Jean", that I quite liked, it is not particularly long and is quite easy to read, from the same author of this book, "Cinq nouvelles réalistes" is a compliation of 5 short stories. I hope that i helped you!

Peut-être "Petit Prince"? C'est un bon debut en tout cas!

@saint14 Anything by Margerite Duras. Her writing is quite "childlike" but beautiful for begninners, I think. Barrage contre le Pacifique is a great example. There's also Boris Vian, but he invents words that makes no sense, again, like a child would do and everything is very innocent. I would recommend L'arrache-coeur.
