      Hi,
I accidently downloaded a file with extension .scr in one of the torrents and it turns out to be a malware.
I reset my windows, but the question is am I safe or this file might have stole some of my passwords/data?
Is anyone familiar with this type to viruses?

Here's a recent thread you may be interested in:

Report the torrent to the mods using the report button on the torrent page.

You can Google some information about scr malware:

          https://www.google.com/search?q=scr+malware&tbs=qdr:y

I would recommend being very cautious and disconnecting that computer from the internet until the malware is removed.

Also be wary of downloading antivirus software from untrustworthy sources as it may be malware, too.

I have been there too, then I uploaded the file to virus total and tried out the anti-viruses that were able to detect the virus.
I suggest you install ESET, it deletes the files right after you finish downloading if it is infected.
