Hi, some thoughts:

Agree with what you wrote here. After trying to guide a few torrents to the right direction (i.e. towards what the rules stipulated), I've given up on this vigilante policing. There's just no end to the deluge of poorly listed torrents and behaviours.

I've noticed that torrents that flout the rules get more seedbonus, snatches and interest than torrents try to do everything right. It's a matter of demand and supply, more than the quality of what's being uploaded. The level of care taken by the uploader has little value here. 20GB torrents with the title "HOT FCUCKING GUY JAPANESS" with no filelist or thumbnails can be far more popular than one that was listed with it's proper studio name, full original title, ID number, etc. It's disappointing. But that's the way the site works.

I want be corrected on this, but I think it's due to no disincentive to uploaders not following the rules.

Live and let live. I liken the current state of torrents here to a weekend flea market, not a curated library. Enjoy the festival guys.

Receiving seedbonus is a statistical thing. My current feel of it is about 1%.
i.e. For every 100 snatches, 1 user may offer a seedbonus.
How much is given tho - that's anyone 's guess.

So for torrents with <100 snatches. Good luck

If there is, then bring it up with the user and we can go on with our merry lives before - gasp - more misinformation is spread. If there isn't, then this entire topic has been a thoroughly unnecessary and trivial complaint by zbret who got annoyed (which is honestly a personal problem
for zbret, not a problem for the community or for GTRU staff).

Descriptions in the title such as "Hot!", "Must See!", "Best Ever!", "New" or "Latest" are unacceptable. The comment area is the only appropriate place to give your personal opinion of the content or otherwise make personal requests. Include the release date, rather than "New", "Latest", etc. …
Do not plead for bonus seed points in the description area.

Yeah, I agree, and it's unfortunate. This is one of the reasons I will never start another tracker, I don't have the patience. Also, this is why we should be careful of what we read about trackers from the outside. Many of these MF want to badmouth other trackers, but in reality, they're bad members who are burnt, because they where not allowed to do what they like. So, like I always say, if a bitch is not going to follow the rules of a tracker (which all have them, and have the right to do whatever the fuck they want to do on their tracker), than those individuals need to get a fucking VPN, and use public trackers, where no one gives a fuck). Personally, I would have banned that user, after a swift warning. Anyone signing up for a private tracker knows how they work. Absolutely no one should be begging like a homeless person for points. There is content all over the internet that can be shared. No one should be fucking begging.

While I find the begging annoying as well, if you read my very original post, you will see my concern was about what seemed to be misinformation. When I tried to tell the uploader what he was saying in the upload comments could be misinterpreted, he replied to me not to have so much drama, which I interpreted as a flippant in your face response to close down the conversation. I reported it to the mods to ask what their thoughts were on it, and they took care of it, with part of the solution being to suggest Freeleach to the person. Finally, while I 100% agree that the other issues (bad uploads, miscategorization, etc) exist so the issue I raised isn't a valid issue is not a valid argument and really belongs in another thread.

I like the idea of updating the site rules to eliminate begging complaints - though I think it would be a nightmare to police - but I really dislike the implication that someone can't UPLOAD without points. That is the core of the misinformation I've reported.

PS: Regarding the other issues mentioned (miscategorizing, etc), I use the "report" feature, and figure if people keep up on it, the cheaters won't get their torrents to stay for long. That process works fine in my opinion.

With that out of the way, here is another similar offender should the mods wish to have a look and decide how to handle this. My thanks also to them for their prior assistance:

Make no mistake, it IS a valid complaint. And I really do hope that members are not blonde enough to give away points to people like these. Like any other beggar out in the streets, they will keep asking, and asking. This is one of the reasons I don't run a tracker no more. It's incredibly hard to find good members who appreciate what torrents are, and truly sharing, and not taking.

I wish that staff member came down on that individual harder. Anybody begging for points, couldn't have been a valued uploader.

This one is getting a little annoying. Over 10 new torrests in the Straight older category uploaded today looks nothing like older.

I'm not disagreeing with you but just pointing out that "older" is subjective. When you are 60, 40 is young. When you are 20, 40 is old. To a 16 year old, anyone over 21 or so is old.

I disagree, because as grown adults, we should understand what context is. Second, anyone who understands at least half of what I said, would know I'm speaking the truth. And I will not apologize to anyone who is offended by truth. Torrenting can be serious business, and I'm soooo tired of people only focusing on downloading porn to jerk off too, and not bothering to research in detail on how to protect one's self, or how not to get abused by lairs on torrent sites. BTW, cherry picking specific benign words people use is also a bit childish.

At some point the suggestion was made to turn them onto Freeleaching their torrents to make the seedpoints they crave, but I have no idea how that would help, particularly if they don't have enough seed points now.

Again, while the begging is mildly annoying, it is the implication the site won't let them upload without SB points - the deception that I dislike.

As the OP has stated, it's not the begging in the comments that is at issue here.

The issue is that the person in question is trying to mislead everyone into believing that we would ban him from uploading if he has a bad ratio. We never, ever do that. You can always upload, regardless of ratio.

So, are you saying this is a "ratioless" tracker? I do see that as an issue though. Regardless of the reason, it boils donwn to that individual not wanting to seed (I assume). And if that's the case, he aught not use torrents anymore, as seeding is essential.

Being "fair share" doesn't prevent anyone from UPLOADING, ever.

We only prevent downloading for poor ratios, but if you (generic) ask for help we will do what we can as long as we see you are trying and not rude.
