About Murder on the Orient Express, I think Johnny Depp was meant to be extremely unlikeable. I've read the book but this was the first time I've seen any adaptation and I was surprised at how much the sheer tragedy of the situation was highlighted. I mean, consider that the book begins with the inciting crime (the murder of the child and subsequent death and suicide), it seemed almost clinical in contrast to the movie.
Also while I liked the jaded, world-weary spin on the character of Poirot, I didn't like the insertion of the long-lost love, whose portrait Hercule carries with him. I just thought it was unnecessary.
But this actually wasn't the last movie I've watched. A couple of days after watching Murder on the Orient Express I went to see a Slovak film called The Teacher, which I truly enjoyed. It's the story of a teacher, natch :D, who basically extorts favours from the children she teaches and their parents using their grades. I didn't know that it was actually based on a true story, not that that made much of a difference to my enjoyment. I've also always loved the poetry of Samo Chalupka (that's a lie I didn't learn to speak Slovak until I was in my late teens) and the recitation of Branko at the end was pretty fantastic. I'd rate it a solid 4 out of 5.

Concerning Johhny Depp's character on Murder On the Orient Express.
The character is intended to be despicable, but he could have been made sympathetic which is not at all the same thing.
To explain, the David Suchet version showed him as a frightened and unhappy man who was desparate enough to reach out to a stranger for help. Poirot turned him down for no good reason. Poirot regretted not helping a man in need no matter how horrible his past was. It would also be possible to depict Casetti as having destroyed his own life through his crime: showing remorse or shame.I liked the choice of focusing on the long-term damage done by the crime in this re-telling.

Definitely beter than Force Still Sleeps but i can see why it is controversial by the fans.

I hate giving ratings for movies. It doesn't acknowledge that people enjoy DIFFERENT things. What one person will regard as irrelevant will ruin the movie for another person and vice versa.
I liked Star Wars: The Last Jedi a lot. I like the carry through on themes: do we integrate our past into our present; what are meaningful sacrifices as opposed to egotism; look closer at things. I like that someone who understands religious philosophy 'fixed' the Jedi religion. I like that someone looked at human history at what happens when someone kills the King. (Hint - Rome did not revert to being the Roman Republic when Julius Caesar was assassinated.) I feel that this movie was well-done and an excellent set-up for the conclusion of this trilogy: Kylo Ren has become the antagonist he was meant to be, Poe is set up to be the Rebel commander, Rey is set-up as the founder of an order who embrace the Light without being scared of the Dark.
I do not need to see yet another story of 'white male triumphant'. I like female characters with agency. I know a lot of the Rapid Puppies are irate at having a women of colour with lines and character development - who didn't even dress in a slave girl costume.

You might find a 13-year-old fanboi who said that online but that's not the consensus. (spoilers) For example, why set up a woman commander JUST introduced to lead the kamakazi run when you have long-lived characters who deserved to bow out in style? Admiral Akabar, for example? How about bringing back Lando? They made political choices all throughout the movie, and it sucked because of it. Fyn is never anything but a token character. Rose was at least better drawn but their side plot was forced and had zero effect on the main plot.
SWTLJ had real problems in the writing. They wanted to imitate the Marvel movies comedic tone, so they created Jar-Jar level missteps that sidestepped the tone of all the films which came before. And where were the sword fights, the signature SW set piece? Hated it. Just hated it all the way through.

If you have read the book and liked it, I'm sure you will also like the film. Although there are some slight changes from the book, like in the book, it's the first person account (Elio's) narrative, in the movie it's not.
Both lead actors are great and they deserved the Golden Globe Nomination and I hope they will be nominated in Oscars. I think they are planning for a sequel since in the book, it was present day scenario with Elio only recalling of that 1983 love affair because he heard someone said "Later".

I just saw Coco by Pixar/Disney and thought it was delightful.
The visuals are vibrant and complex without seeming garish or busy. There are plenty of jokes in the images. (Especially the references to Frida Kahlo.)
The themes were robust: being true to oneself while remaining connected to family. The importance of remembering and being remembered.
I also enjoyed the voice acting by all the characters.

For the 100th time, I watched Girls Will Be Girls (2003), which is akin to watching very good drag queen actresses chew the scenery of a plot much like a blend of Sunset Boulevard, All About Eve, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, Mommie Dearest and Valley of the Dolls.

Sadly, I'm a homosexual male with no appreciation for Camp… much less Disco.
The closest I come is liking Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown which is more of a Screwball Comedy.

Follow-up for John – did you like Saturday Night Fever (1977)? In one sense, it was all about disco, but in a deeper sense, it was more about generational family conflict, growing up in a blue-collar world with greater aspirations, and gang pressures. Oh, and romance with your disco dance partner, tee hee.
I just watched bits of it for the 1,00th time, and feel, in retrospect, it has aged well as a movie, and was worthy of more than just one Academy nomination for Travolta.

With very few exceptions, I dislike Disco music and find it disruptive in movies. Granted, it is rare to hear disco outside of gay porn in movies.
I must have seen Saturday Night Live since I've seen the sequel. The sequel is Xanadu level bad.
I know gay men who point blank refuse to listen to classical music. I know others who can't stand punk/metal/alternative styles of music. Music taste is subjective.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
I rate it a B+
I'm not a Star Wars afficionado, but i really enjoyed the movie. It's veeeery slow in the beginning… with not actually happening for the entire first hour of the movie, but after that, it's pretty enjoyable.

me too, I rewatched CoCo with my brother. We can feel the family meaning in that movie. by me I’m fearful be forgotten, altho I hate my father, but I choose forgive him when he was dead, I will still remember him and his name will be continued by me and my children.
in northern asian culture family is strong and important, that’s nightmare to gay people.

1. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Entertaining. I like the idea of comedy in this movie but not as much as bold clever comedies in Deadpool. But, the movie is good an waiting for the next one if there is one.

Now I know why this movie called as UK's Brokeback Mountain. In many ways, the plot similar to each other. The different probably is the origin of the two lead characters, they live in their own lives, their own country, their own bitterness, their own denying, their own story. But, unlike Brokeback Mountain, they found their own live together at the end. I think you know what I mean

I a fans of earlier Saw movies when the story is still fresh and the butchery is thrilling. I guess they try to revive the original taste of this movie to keep the franchise on but they need to try harder.
5/104. The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
I'm curious about this movie because, being said that Nicole Kidman could have her Oscar nomination for this role. But, in my opinion, in her character there is no significant development and almost boring (maybe because I expected to be more). But I like the story and Colin Farrell's plot and bounding with the boy. Its almost felt like a gay thing (father an son fantasy) at first. Bu its over when the horror begin. When the ancient curse clash with the modern believing. You need to watch his movie to finish my line here.

This movie feel like bringing The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbits to modern world, when Orcs and Elves live among us human. I'd say its entertaining but need more improvement to the story because its just too simple for such a huge world.

I saw this movie last night and I'm glad its a good one. Entertaining even though the plot a little bit boring and predictable in the beginning, but its get better to the rest. I like the quote from this movie, "you can't save anyone."

This one is hilarious, thanks to Jack Black. Its really refreshing one from the last Jumanji and a different plot. I like this one.

Enjoyed it the first part plenty, what followed tears me into loving or hating the film.
! If you are even slightly familiar with the bible, you’d know it’s an allegory. A large part of the experience is waiting to see how Arronofsky would weave the tale with his film-skills (I dunno, directing?).

As a follow-up to your comments on Mother!, DCLXVI, I went to see it with virtually no prior research, including no media reviews.
Even though my school days included much reinforcement of the "Spoiler" angle, it went completely over my head during the viewing. I walked out perplexed, and would have assigned it a "5."
I have plans to view it again, and already know that my "number" will be higher the second time around.
