      @DCLXVI:

      Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

      6/10

Visually… it had moments of greatness. Story-wise, as a war movie, it was meh, as a fantasy movie, it was meh, as a hybrid of both, it was; meh.

I should give it 8.5 good graphics and story

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (rewatch) 4.5/5
Still my favourite MCU movie. Most MCU movies are entertaining successions of explosions and jokes, but they usually aren't very satisfying stories. Winter Soldier stands out, actually having a proper story to tell and a point to make. Also, Evans' Cap and Johanson's Black Widow are two of my favourite MCU characters. My only complaint is that it's visually a bit on the generic side, and the action scenes are very good, but not great.

Finally finished this movie during the weekend The Invisible Guest (2016) 8/10
Its smart, its thrilling and awesome characters. The plot is fast so we need to concentrate on every details. I like how the plot develop with every possible ways that lead to the murder. And the ending is unexpected!

                  Crooked House (2017)

Whether or not you like detection writer, the late Dame Agatha Christie, one will enjoy this film based on one of her detection novel of the same title. Most notable in acting are those of Max Irons, Glenn Close and Honor Kneafsey. 7/10

                      I loved it.

Some parts might be hard to understand if you've never read a DC comic, seen any of the animations, or watched the last movies (who Clark's/Superman's mother is, who is Lois Lane, what can Diana do, etc.) but the more you know the better it becomes. The Flash just tosses out the word Speedforce to glossover what his power is and for people out of the know it's not helpful. I understand. For such people, they're not going to love the movie as much as I do – that's okay, the extended cut and/or the Syder cut [over three hours long] will fill in the bits they don't understand.

The good: They rewrote comic book history to make fresh changes to the story. Even I was surprised and delighted – I was one HUGE smile in the theater -- by how they re-wrote large story arcs. The characters had great chemistry. The Amazons. The flashback battle scene.

The bad: They ovbiously cut large chunks that the audiance needed. Part of that included Stepenwolfs backstory and his relationship to Darkseid (he's Darkseids uncle) which could have opened the story up. The also powered down Wonder Woman and Stephenwolf. (The Flash hasn't really used his powers before, so it's understandable he was shown as weaker than he actually is.)

One change Wheaton made from Snyders original script is the post-post credit scene (stay around for the last frame after the credits). They wrote in a backdoor option on where to take the franchise and even though it will be fun, they shouldn't have. They really shouldn't have.

You should watch this in the theaters while you can.

Virtually no one will have seen this movie.

The Northlander starring Corey Sevier.  A post-apocalypse Canadian movie focused on Native cultures.

What I really liked - the world-building is seamless.  The body art, architecture, tools and weapons all look like they come from the same world.  It's possible to imagine a past and a future for the characters.  The fighting scenes are well-done.
What I liked - most of the acting is good.  The plot makes sense.
What I didn't like - it's a bit slow.  Sometimes the things that happened off-screen where more interesting than the ones on-screen.

Overall impression - 8/10.  It's a good solid science-fiction story made on a low budget.  It's one of my top two sci-fi movies I've seen this year (the other being Arrival which was actually released in 2016 but I didn't see it until January).  Since this is the first feature from the director - and he'll have a higher budget for his next fillm - I'm looking forward to his future work.

                              Coco (8/10) from pixar
not likely the disney cartoon film, pixar has it’s own way to tell a story, no more preachings and awkward play. this movie is talk about family and death land. death dont make farewell forever, forgot did it.

A Closer Walk with Thee (2017)

Although the actors are good, this movie is nothing but an anti gay propaganda that being gay is a devil possessing you that kills and rape.

6/10 for the actors but 3/10 for the movie

It was interesting enough to keep me occupied for a while. It was also great seeing a, assuming it was an authentic one, picture of the Boston Globe.

                                    Moonlight (2016)

                                    6/10

Beautiful without any doubts, but I couldn't care less about the main character and just dulls in comparison to the next film I saw, which is:

                                    The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

                                    8.5/10

Rich, stylish, classy, and carries itself in a stupendous balance of humor and sophistication.

                                    The Wailing (2016)

                                    5.5/10

Predictable and cliched. Yawned through most of it.

                                      Star Wars: The Last Jedi
                                      2 out of 10

Very little flowed out from the story organically. Rather, most every scene was crafted to elicit an effect, emotion, or plot move. Worse, each arc in the film has a time limit, almost as cliche as a literal timer clicking in the corner. The second arc gave just a few hours for characters to cross the galaxy and do the impossible and be back in time for the proverbial dinner. Dumb. I could not suspend my disbelief through most of the film. The only saving grace was the relationship between Kailo and Rei. These actors have good chemistry on screen together and how their arcs develop is believable whereas everything else around them is jaw gapingly artificial.

See it in the theater if you have to but you can wait till home video or Netflix.

haven’t shown yet. someone told me it’s rocks and better than the last one. I don’t remember the details of original force awaken. but there is more human relationships than galaxy adventure, the producers of hollywood may think less sci-fi in it will get better feedbacks. acrroding to your review it’s not a good idea to waste time in the cinema.  🙂

I just saw the Kenneth Branaugh remake of Murder on the Orient Express.

I'll say 4/5.  There are some interesting story choices.  The movie looks good: clothing, props, period architecture, lighting.
Some acting is better than others.  The people doing the hair and make-up didn't work.  Hercule Poirot's moustache was visibly fake as was the 'natural hair' of one of the characters in an important reveal scene.
