      OUI !!!
      For here in France.

      There was a large & vocal minority against it.
      Quickly after the law was voted, a very large majority is ok with it.

      And we saw many opponants to it that once invited to a gay wedding in their familly, attended without complaining.
      There is even a case of a very anti gay marriage Mayor that 6 months later celebrate the wedding of its own gay son !!!  :hug2:

      For those who say "i don't beleive in gay wedding", it's worth noting it's the last part that make us "good as you(straight)" :
      Studies show a drop in LGBT teen scuicides…

        "Is gay marriage legal in your country?"

        I WISH! LOL.
        No really, my country is undeniably a hypocritical religion-based country, so I don't see any approval or proper acceptance (which is why I call hypocrite, because true religion teaches about love and caring for others) happening soon. At least not until 10 years from now. Which is disappointing, but a hard fact.

        @portboii:

        In Australia, we have one of the most open and inclusive societies in the world.  We have the biggest gay celebration in the world. We have free adoption and IVF laws.
        …
        DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!

        Thank you sir! Thanks to you, Australia is now officially on my wishlist. Alongside Canada and some open European countries.
        US used to be in it, but not anymore. I don't see the country accepting me there at least for the next 4 years of leadership. LOL.

          😞 The way the current and hopeless Federal Government is here in Australia, I cannot see it becoming legal any time soon to be honest  😞

          Despite the majority of the populations saying YES, the Government asks for, and keeps delaying, a plebasite (not sure of spelling sorry) that basically will be biased against legalising gay marriage anyway.  The voters here, and the other political parties, have all said NO to this, the plebecite thing,  but the Government insists that this is what the voters want. This is going to cost the current Government a huge amount of money to hold, and in view of the current financial state or our country, well why do they want to waste more money when it could have been done, and should have been done by parliament decree or something, a long time ago. Hmm…go figure.
          It makes me wonder why they keep delaying this issue, and then it disappears for a little while then it is brought back into the public eyes, and it all starts over again....
          Why don't politicians listen to the voters, and just stop being hypocrites, and just get it done so we can have the same ceremony as the rest of the community?
          Proud to be gay in Australia?  Yeh right, I can't marry the man I want and he can't marry me, and yet if we were to live together, various Government departments recognise us as a co-habiting "couple", although that is only for their own monetary controls.
          That's my opinion, so YES, let's get some sense into the whole equality issue, and just legalise same sex marriage here in Australia !!

                  @portboii:

                  For women we were the first country in the world to give women the vote.

                  Sorry but New Zealand beat us to it in 1893, we were close behind in 1894 though.

                  And as for Same Sex Marriage in Australia, we'll find out on Wednesday I guess. I'll be glad when this shit show of a plebiscite is over.

                    Canada has the weird position that we had the first legally recognized same-sex marriages that predate our government recognizing same-sex marriage.  Our fight was led by the MCCT (Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto) under Reverend Brent Hawkes performing marriages under a loop-hole in the law then fighting for years to have the weddings recognized.

                    I live in Toronto and know some of the people involved in the fight - including Rev. Brent Hawkes.  I belong to one of the first synagogues in Canada to perform same-sex weddings.

                            Unfortunately gay marriage or civil unions are not legal in Romania.  :hapgay:

                              As of recently, yes. Australia finally jumped aboard the Equality Bandwagon.

                                  Congratulations to Australia.

                                  Although I didn't like the feeling that more than a third of the country wanted me to be a second class citizen, I'll try to remain positive and remember that Love Won in the end. Next stop, LGBT adoption rights…

                                    Taiwan has allowed gay marriage as of 2018. Becoming the first asian country to do so.

                                      Romania  still refuse  to    aknowledge  this  right to gay  people. There  are  a  couple  of  legal  actions  taking  place,  but right  now  we  don t  exist in  our  law' s perspective.

                                        Yes, in Spain is has been legal since 2005. Spain was one of the first countries in Europe to legalize gay marriage and the third in the world by that time.

                                        Very proud of my country in that respect:

                                          Nope, just civil unions in Greece as far as I recall.

                                            I have nothing against gay marriage, if you feel like it, then go, but I don't think it will be allowed in our country. Maybe not in my lifetime.
