Replying to Your Own Posts

I do it on occasion. When I do it, I want any previous thread readers to know I added something new.
I do agree that 7 replies to yourself is OTT.

Aaah, so 7 is the magic number, everything below 7 is a-okay.
-
No. Seven has nothing to do with it unless Raph, the head of this thing is particular to the number. But I don't really think he cares. Look ya *****. I will reply to my own posts if I God Damn feel like it. Shut yer **** trap.

Depending on the type, I use 10 and 19 for motor racing.

Wow would that really make you feel like you won something for a change?
Here is why I add new replies:
Because people have already READ the original post, and when you "Edit," the people who have ALREADY read it, don't realize that it's been edited and new information has been added, so they don't read the edited additional part.
You just want this because you aren't able to defend yourself. Sorry if it's CONFUSING. You should learn how to pay attention to what's being said.
Oh, m, you are being disingenuous as to your current role as the P&D forum's serial multiple self-repeating poster.
You heap replies upon your own replies, ad infinitum, usually because you are in full-rage mode. Rather than adding new information, you are usually repeating the same idea or insult, five or six times in consecutive posts – which does not, however, increase its merit or legitimacy. Only yesterday, you were spinning like a top and posting the same trash talk, repeatedly, on the second page of:
https://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=51052.20 "Trump cuts $22 Million from White House Budget"
So yes, this forum REALLY needs some numerical limitations, and/or warnings given, when these one-person daisy chains occur. It has a negative effect on the proper functioning of the board.

Funny.. I don't recall you complaining about a month ago when DrWas posted 13 new topics in one day. Is it possible you are selective about who you complain about?

I was writing about same-author, repetitive and consecutive posts within ONE thread – which IS the topic here -- not the formation of new, multiple threads. You're serving apples and oranges, with a side of reading comprehension issues.

You know I like to be the fact checker on this board. I reviewed the posts from June. Drwas basically spammed the board with multiple posts, most of which had no replies at all. There were about 5 in which he replied to his own post, but he waited anywhere from 30-60 minutes before posting a reply. In all cases, he was the only reply on the thread and it died there. If anything, he was guilty of posting subjects no one was interested in discussing.
Mhorndisk, however in multiple threads posts several replies in the first 15 minutes. I think his record is here: https://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=51111.msg277877#msg277877
He posted 4 replies in the first ten minutes after the OP. It was just a rant, he certainly was not inviting discussion,
It has nothing to do with the content. It has to do with style.
I thought this board was meant to facilitate the free exchange of ideas, not simply be a platform to declare your beliefs.P.S. from the Rules for this Section:
" If you routinely post nothing but childish comments that do nothing to further the discussion, that is a NO NO.
If you can't or won't further the discussion, then ignore this section."

Yes, as in the example above, where multiple, consecutive same-author responses appear in mere minutes on a thread, a Warning should be given, and after a few Warnings, a "Time-Out" given on that person's contributing on this board.
These space-wasting, machine-gun sprays of self-responses are really in the realm of cyberbullying, an attempt to "own" the thread and push aside opposing ideas. And isn't that why we have the P&D forum at all – to exchange ideas in an organized fashion?
To our administrator: PLEASE make and apply rules to govern these abuses, which are clearly on the rise.

And some are trying not only to own the thread, but own the entire board as well. They are doing this not only by the number of posts and self-replies, but by affecting the tone of the entire board with each of their "contributions." They seem to have bullied most users away. Reasonable people don't have time for this shit.

True. Discussing these persons who act as "atomic topic generators" – with many threads of questionable value and unacceptable, vulgar headlines -- could even be its own thread, but here is good as well.
Like kudzu smothering trees, one or two individuals -- with their manic posting of multiple, throw-away threads -- are putting this forum into an imbalance. It will certainly not encourage gaining new posters -- and let's face it, P&D is fast becoming an echo chamber.
Suggestion to administrator: place a fair number -- say, four -- maximum new threads per person, per day. Those who abuse this limit should receive warnings, followed by a participation time-out (nice for temporary suspension). Please respond.

Yes, the toxicity level has me on the verge of never participating in this thread again. My call for civility calmed things down for a little while but now the childishness is back in full force. It's really sad and raphjd needs to do something about this. I've taken up for him for being a decent moderator and keeping his moderating separate from his personal views, but something needs to be done about the multiple same-topic threads started by the same person (mhorndisk) and then the multiple self-replying to those topics by that same person (mhorndisk).

Yes, in a parallel universe, the four or five P&D progressives – most of whom are participating in today's discussion -- just got sick of trying to fix this sh-t, and moved to someplace like Queerty, which delighted the most hard-core GT neo-cons, who, going forward, could just rave among themselves on an otherwise dead board.

Excellent fact-checking! Unfortunately, this board is clearly going downhill.

It's only going downhill TO YOU, because you don't like Trump. You can't stand to hear someone defend him.
