Getting emotional over video games
-
There's a lot more emotional / story-driven games on the market these days.
Life is Strange is a pretty good one if you can get past all the teen talk.

The post contains a little spoiler for FFVI ok?
I got emotional in FFVI, after the world gets changed. The way Celes was left alone with that man, and she feeds him until he dies. The thought of her getting into a high mountain and throw herself off the edge, was really powerful.

Borderlands 2 - Tiny Tinas Assault on Dragons Keep.
The ending with Roland makes me baby up everytime :cry2: :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:
-
Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us.

I've cried at the endings of so many video games. The most hard-hitting for me have been MGS3 and MGS4, Final Fantasy IX, and Nier (the original, not Automata, although I did cry at the end of Automata too)
I think part of it is the wistful "omg it's over" feeling that amplifies it for me, but also I think it's just generally easier for me to get emotionally invested in games (assuming they have a good narrative).

Silent Hill 2
! , when we watch Maria die the first time I felt guilty about not being able to save her, I was shocked when she suddenly appears again unharmed as if nothing had happened at all.. and then that ending, so horrible and devastating, it made me feel empty inside.

Been getting emotional on Outlast 2 currently…BECAUSE IT'S SCARY AS FUCK. I have felt nauseous a couple times lol
I suppose feeling sad would be Life is Strange. Holy crap does that game really pull you into the story.

Journey.
A breath-taking game, you basically just walk through a desert, hoping to reach your destination. There is no talking in Journey, and there is no fighting. You walk and jump, and you let out a single tone…
It seems like its nothing... but dear jesus, I was heavily invested on an emotional level by the time I reached the end.

Has anyone else ever gotten really emotional over a video game?
I know I was watching a trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 remix and I was on the verge of tears.
Just curiousKingdom Hearts has me invested each game.

Final Fantasy 8, 9 and 10-2 (the 100% ending)
Maria ending in Silent Hill 2I can't remember KH1, but I'm just going through with it right now, as I bought the 1.5+2.5 edition last month.

I got attached to MGS and Final Fantasies of course. Loved the games, they made me. But I think it's not getting emotional over it. I mean they didn't make me cry or anything like that but they were a huge part of my life.
The games that really made me sad and all stressed up about what's gonna happen were definitely THE WALKING DEAD, HEAVY RAIN and above all LIFE IS STRANGE. They're the fucking killers. LiS episode endings are just too much. Literally, there are so many moments when you're like FUCK what did just happen, why did it happen. The soundtrack didn't make it any easier.

Are we only talking about getting teared up emotionally? Because I'm already on my 4th controller of the year.
-
Ori and the Blind Forest is a real tear-jerker.
Heavy Rain really punched me in the gut… I was afraid to play that game with my parents nearby. It's basically a parental-trauma in the first 20 minutes or so.
-
I'm not really into it, and i don't like movies like this but "Fragments of Him" get me. After i had a few days thinking about this game.
-
I'll admit I got teary eyed after watching the ending of KH2. When Kairi let her hand out for Sora to grab said "you're home" , I almost lost it!
Other than that, I can't really recall getting that emotional when playing video games.
-
I remember being devastated by Aerith death in FFVII, I was too young back then and didn't expect it at all.
-
Halo!! when Cortana dies!! :cry2:
-
NieR: Automata unexpectedly got me in tears. I didn't expect the feels to rush at that moment.
-
Detroit: Becoming Human
That game fucked me up a number of times. :cry2:
