That reminds me a lot of how homoerotism used to work in Ancient Greece and at some extent in Ancient Rome too… maybe we haven't changed that much and this is just an echo of that time. But in Ancient Greece older men were expected to initiate young boys in sex and the rule was that the older men would always be top whereas the young ones should always be bottoms. In Ancient Rome homosexuality was not a big deal, as long as the adult, free man practicing it was a top; to be a bottom was considered a dishonor, something that only very young boys would do, or something you would expect of effeminate men and slaves.

I think your question is genuine and deserves polite answers. The other day I heard a friend of mine saying that he's too old to be a bottom, and I think he's 55, so you're not the only one with this notion. I'm 46, I consider myself versatile, since I have no problem to perform both roles, but I prefer to be a bottom, because it's easier to cum (I'm talking about myself obviously). But this is just the sex part, and we are much more than that. To be in a relationship you need a lot more than sex.
