I am living in the UK because of illegals getting priority in the immigration queue over my now husband who went the legal route. I moved to the UK the legal way.
Everyone: I joined this site 10 years ago, and raphjd was living in the UK then, so I really wonder if this is some new problem. As Donald J. Trump would say, in defense of his non-payment of taxes, screwing his contractors and dodging the draft: "that's smart, because I got away with it." If raphjd and his husband didn't just come to the US illegally, doesn't that suggest he's not that bright??
But let's continue:
Anyone ranting about European immigrants taking land from the native Americans, need to show that not once did native Americans take lands from anyone else. (emphasis mine)
Here raphjd is fall-on-his-own-face-stupid, because we likewise we could say: "Anyone ranting about Germany taking land from France / Poland / Austria / etc. during WWII needs to show that not once did France, Poland, Austria, etc. take lands from anyone else." (Maybe raphjd considers WWII Germany justified in it's expansion, considering that whole Austro-Hungarian Empire thing…)
But, seriously, we need to be a little considerate of raphjd. I have it on very good authority (but I'm not supposed to say this) that raphjd is only posting crap like this because his dog thinks he's an imbecile. When we have a site where an admin is also a troll, perhaps we should just ignore all his posts? (And wish the best for his poor dog, of course).
Not sure what's going on here but I think I need some popcorn.

Here's an opinion from an actual mexican.
The man killed himself because he has NOTHING back in Mexico okay? It was his 3rd deportation and he decided to take his own life instead of returning to his native country.
Maybe you don't get it because USA recieves immigrants, rather than creating them so I'll explain some stuff, so you better pay fucking attention.
People emigrate to the USA because there are no chances for economic or social mobility here in Mexico. The agricultural sector is underdeveloped. As you can see, lots of farmhands cross the border to work at USA's fields.
Second, the cost of living in USA is less than in Mexico. You can buy more with 1 dollar there than with 1 peso here. This translates as easy living for migrants. You can wait tables or work as a domestic and still you can feed your family decently. It also explains why most of the migrants don't pursue higher education in the US, but their children do.
Now, Mexico actually benefits from the money sent back to their families. Wires and money transfers from USA to Mexico are an important part of the latter's GDP.
All the rallies here in favor of the deported migrants are hypocritical, since the reason they left in the first place was the lack of opportunities in the country, plus, there's really no reintegration programs for them. They couldn't live in the same level they did back in USA if they were to work in the same things here in Mexico.
So is no wonder the poor sod killed himself.
And raphjd is right regarding Mexico's own treatment to immigrants from Central America, they are treated really badly here. Is the old proverb: 'And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye'
(Don't let the bit of scripture ruffle your Democratic feathers, we have the saying in laic spanish but couldn't translate it into English)
I do feel you're hypocritical too...you don't really care about migrants, you care about your domestics, gardeners, your baristas and waiters, because they do jobs you wouldn't even dare to do anymore. USA has had an imperialistic approach towards Mexico from a long time now, continued by Democrats and Republicans alike.
A Day without Immigrants? Pfft...it only shows that immigrants are employed heavily in the services sector. What delusional mind thought that some closed restaurants and some hipsters unable to buy fresh produce equals to a 'paralyzed country'? You Liberals are the ones feeding the migrants your 'Kool-Aid' to keep them bowed down and compliant.

Well, if the plan is that you both move to the US, he better hurry up or pray he gets through soon, some senators want to cut issued green cards by 50%. (Assuming I understand what you are saying correctly… Meaning; you have duel citizenship, he only has UK citizenship, and is trying to get a green card.)

YES, that is the case. When we met, I was only a US citizen.
So, calling you a liberal is "name calling". I agree.
Anyway, why am I a hypocrite because I live in the UK, but am commenting on the US situation? That makes no sense.

sorry to ask for something not related; but I wonder : The guy had a status of " self approved". doesn't it mean he is some kind of moderator? ( so there are even insults amongst moderators then?..) cant he create a new account then?

Trump's immigration policy is political suicide, it's just going to be story after story like this.
I could easily reword that into a sick joke and that's not what I mean.
Is Mexico that horrible that he would rather kill himself than go back? If he wanted to come to America so bad, he should have followed the law and immigrated LEGALLY like I did. But, you can't expect democrats to follow the laws.

It's classed as spam since it adds no value to the conversation since it was only a personal attack.
"Auto Approval" no longer has any real meaning since everyone, except those that are moderated, are on auto approval now.

Err…is not horrible per se (otherwise, all mexicans would be crossing the border), it's just that there's so much corruption, insecurity and a true lack of opportunities for social mobility.
Most illegals belong to the lower class echelons in Mexico so they don't even have a high level of education, a great number are farmhands that search for work since agriculture here is pretty death (News Flash: Even though Mexico's diet is based on corn, the country fails to produce the amount it needs, it imports the rest from the US) if they can't find a job in the fields they can make a living with little jobs or other. For example, a waiter in USA, can eke out a decent living, while that is impossible in Mexico.
And there's also a disdain towards returned migrants. For some mexicans, those who migrated to USA have become 'gringos' and behave snobby and uptight towards those who remained in the country. (Some do actually, but that doesn't mean all mexicans living in the USA act like that)
