Can anyone explain what is really going on in a gay porn audition? step by step?

I did some . it really depends from the studio not really a step by step process.
Some well known director will check your picture, and talk to you over the phone first to check if you are fit for the job ( like any job interview really ). first contact by mail (with picture, motivation letter) /phone then you go to the studio have non naked picture taken. Then you come back they ask you to have it hard etc. Then you meet the director have some chat and all then discuss his ideas etc.
( talking here about what I know, only french studios) -

I can only talk form my experience, but I was never asked to actually have sex for an audition with someone coz that means working. you dont work for nothing. and if you work it means your contract is signed and you pay taxes and pension, social securities and all..
Then 'performance' depends if you apply as bottom / top only or versatile. but usually performance is not the 1st criteria. One of my ex , who did porn as well, well he was not very good lol they just take time , make you comfortable and all. it's edited in the end anyway. -
