      @gaypraha2:

what  " Beau " said is totally true and clean or not won't change the fact you can get hepatitis A among other nasty stuff..

Very true.  I have been told by doctors and medical professionals that there's no way to actually get an anus 'clean'.  I'm personally not into rimming, I had it done once by a man I dated briefly and I did not enjoy it.  I have no desire to do it to anyone women or men, as I'm bisexual; but people I know who do it just use dental dams until they get tested with their partner for Hepatitis, HIV, and other STDs.

oops yeah I didnt meant " beau" but you, " TheNewt " what you said it totally true. I'm bi as well and had advices from doctors specialized in gay sex in the Marais ( part of the center of Paris with lots of gays) where you can get tested anonymously for free for different STDs. I also dont like to "receive" that. but licking I kinda like that but wont do it to a stranger, that's only for some rare people I know and not always.

it's obviously not "healthy" (as in it does not promote any health benefits when you do it) and can even be harmful but you can minimize the risks by being clean. Still, no matter how clean someone thinks they are, plenty of nasty things remain down there.

Obviously, sticking your tongue up another guy's hole puts you at risk of infections.  Whether it's "clean" or not doesn't really affect that, it comes with the territory.

Having said that, the most worrying risk is probably Hepatitis B, which can have serious long term effects.

It is possible to be vaccinated against this (in many countries, the vaccination is available for free) and well worth doing.  I think it's fair to say that the other things the average Joe might contract from rimming are much less worrisome.

And, yes, rimming someone's who's actually, visibly dirty probably isn't the best idea in the world.

It's risky but you only live once. Don't hold back.

I dont do it, just because the idea is grossing me out. But when guys wanna do it to me, I make sure Ive cleaned myself and I let them have a go at it. It does feel somewhat good. Not as good as getting your dick sucked but still..

There's definitely tons of shit to think about when rimming (no pun intended). But it cannot kill you. Most of the bacteria that you encounter on a butthole are natural and harmless to humans; many of them actually co-operate with your body in order to digest food, etc. Yes, putting your tongue on a butthole (whether clean or not-so-clean) sounds like a bad idea cause all that bacteria transfers to your mouth and that's bad, right?? Well, if you do take care of your mouth after a rimming session, by brushing your teeth AND tongue, and also using mouthwash, you kill anything that might have harmed you (especially using fluoride toothpaste/mouthwash, since fluoride is super toxic for all bacteria and microorganisms). And not to mention that blowjobs, anal sex, or even kissing are also "dangerous" in that sense. Plus, I don't wanna break your "clean dreams" but your toothbrush is probably covered in toilet water particles right now (cause tiny water particles from the toilet exist in the air and stay on all objects inside your bathroom). But hey, although you do come in contact with those bacteria and all, you never actually became sick by brushing your teeth. And you know why? CAUSE YOUR BODY IS STRONG. You have immunity to all those stuff, the maximum you might get is a mouth sore or something. If you shower, brush your teeth, mouthwash, and in general take care of your entire body, you have nothing to fear of.

To sum it up, yes, rimming makes your mouth contact tons of bacteria. But proper mouth care (as well as body care if you are the one who is getting rimmed) should keep both you and your partner safe. Just stop thinking about it and enjoy the moment 😉

** To people who mentioned Hepatitis and other forms of actually dangerous bacteria, that IS possibly true, but this is why medical check ups are a must for anyone who wants to live a healthy life. Same as it is with all diseases, same goes for STDs. Get checked and play safe and you have nothing to be afraid of 😉

I only do this w/ a partner I trust and we are regularly tested for STDs.

I like to carry around some mouthwash so that I can gargle after rimming. Also, common sense applies: only do this if you and your partner are both "clean" (STI-wise and "did he douche/clean"-wise).

Well a lot of things pertaining to sex arent exactly healthy.
I've also read the opinion that sex cant be called safe sex unless you also suck someone WITH a condom on. From that point of view, a blowjob without condom is also not, strictly speaking, healthy.
Its the first time I hear rimming being tied to hepatitis. I cant disagree since I dont have any expert knowledge but I am wondering about the actual statistics and whether or not we're veering into alarmist territory.

I have enjoyed doing it on occasion, when the "groove" is right, and the tone of the sex is just a little "nasty."

Last year, a friend had a one-night-stand, engaged in rimming, and picked up some kind of tropical parasite.  It was easily cured with, I suppose, antibiotics, but now I'm a little less enthusiastic…

of course a lot safer than sex.

Rimming like any sex act with another person can be unhealthy, if the other person is infected with a STD.

Best you can do is harm reduction - get vaccinated for Hep A & B, make sure you & your partner get tested regularly, clean beforehand, etc.  I've never had a problem from rimming, but there's always some risk.

We had a recent Giardia outbreak in my city.  I am staying away from rimming strangers.  Too much risk if you ask me.
