90% of pagans and wiccans ARE pro gay, the lutheran church I saw mentioned is very much determined by the synod and congregation, The episcopal church in the US is also pro gay, unitarians and the like generally are too. Don't expect the catholic church to be anytime soon or the baptists. I have mostly given up on religion because they all have some doctrine or other hoo haw I can't agree with! $:-\$

The roots of homophobia lie within the judeo-christian-muslim religions, ie. monotheistic Abrahamic religions. Most pagan, Native Amecican and Asian religions are not homophobic in nature. Some Eastern countries, however, such as India, have become homophobic due to European - specially British - colonialism.

It's really difficult to say if religion is against or for something, just compare for e.g Muslims in Middle east and USA - completely different "religions". It really depends from person to person, however paganism doesn't have any specific rules that say it's against homosexuals, but people who are pagan will more likely accept you as gay as it's the nature's way and they don't have the concept of sin, but moral.

I'm happy to see there are churches fighting for same sex marriage. The Anglican I go to are okay with gays going in the church, but not really sure how they stand in marriage. :-[

Im Hindu Dharma (Balinese Hindu), and we're not homophobic but we dont support gay either. We simply dont really care about other people's life and sexuality. As long as they remain functional in society, its fine for us.

But to convert to Hindu Dharma, one has to connect with a Hindu family through marriage/adoption.

Exactly!! I was raised in a Hindu household in Southern India, and have read numerous religious books and stuff, but there isn't a single word against homosexuality. Even sex as a whole, wasn't seen as taboo or anything like that. We literally had temples built with inscriptions and sculptures of sex.

Even the current law which literally makes gay sex illegal (They made "carnal sex" illegal on the ground that it wasn't "ethical") was taken from a British regime which had the same law.

Even the transgender community in India, called Hijras, were greatly respected in the past. They held very significant posts in the Mughal Courts in the 16th and 17th century. But now, they are shunned and discriminated against. They are not given jobs anywhere and are thus forced to resort to begging and prostitution.

Daoism (Taoism). It's all about finding your own Way. Lao Tse would have approved of the Wiccan rede: "An it harm none, do as thou will." Daoism is more of a philosophy for many of us than a true 'religion', though. There's no belief system if you don't want it.

It's part of the roots of Buddhism; Eastern religions got a lot of cross-breeding or borrowing. Hell, not that Western religions didn't!! The Old Testament and the Qura'an both borrowed heavily from Torah.
