Japanese BDSM and sounding

Hi all!

I don't know if this is the best board to ask this.

I love BDSM films and I like the Japanese BDSM films in particular (well, some of them). I've noticed that it is a common practice to sound the "victim", usually with a medical sound that can be fixed by inflating the internal balloon. I've seen that in a lot of Japanese BDSM films.

And I would like to ask you… why is so common this practice? Is really performed in Japan in the BDSM sessions or it is just for the movies?

By the way, do you enjoy these films, and/or sounding?

Jup, although I'm of a persuasion that I, usually like Japanese BDSM; I must admit that it can be far too brutal for me. But so can a lot of the "kink.com" stuff.
