tell'em using the real concept. I used to hate those metaphores and kiky talk when i was a kid. Just be real, and show how normal it is.

I don't mean to be rude, but the same way you'd "explain" being straight to kids. Depending on how young they are, you could just say that this is your boyfriend and leave it at that. If they ask questions, you can matter-of-factly say that some men date and marry other men, and women, women. I'm not sure what you mean by "the wrong idea." Do they need to know the physical details of mom and dad's sex life to understand the nature of their relationship? Again, please don't take this the wrong way.

            Just tell them the truth.
kids don't judge unless they are taught to do so.

              1. "Some boys like girls, some boys like boys, some girls like girls"
              2. "X loves Y just as your parents love each other" (assuming they are talking about a specific person– and their parents have a good marriage)

This doesn't really seem true. There's plenty behavior that is natural to all animals, and judging others is incredibly common.

If they feel they're different from their peers, even if it's just through having gay parent(s), then it'll affect them in a way that you have to make sure isn't negative.
