Trim is better…if you shave you need to do a proper scrub and moisturise the skin often otherwise the new hair may grow under the skin and leave red bumps that can last for months (if you have sensitive skin)

If you must, trim. Shaving requires so much maintenance and is very likely to lead to skin irritation, which is not only very uncomfortable but also usually highly unsightly, destroying just about any aesthetic appeal you may have in mind. It's much better to just trim and manage the hair than it is to have a bumpy, irritated crotch, and most people aren't lucky enough to avoid it.

Like some of the other posters have said, it takes a lot of preparation to avoid ingrown hairs (which are not only unsightly but PAINFUL) or persistent skin irritation that can last for months. Even if you manage to avoid that, you still have to maintain the shaving, and all the time and trouble is just frankly not worth whatever benefit you had in mind.

Trim, absolutely! It just looks better on most people. Plus, if you have sensitive skin like I do, shaving can easily lead to lots of small cuts and nicks on your junk. NOT GOOD! Save yourself the anguish. I use an electric razor with a guard attachment, on the shortest setting.
