Huh?  Have you heard her cover version of Like A Prayer?  I think it's called The Disciples remix of Ultraviolence but really it's just the Shep Pettibone version of Like A Prayer updated and very much not boring.

But then again, it is very much what a friend of mine refers to as "your 4am music" which I think of as a polite way of saying it's boring & calling me on drug usage…

Disciples remix of Ultraviolence sampled LAP? good to know that  but not refreshing enough to reverse my thought on it  😉

Not sampled, divinely inspired, almost like a prayer.  Gosh darn I am witty, even early in the day.  I could list off the other remixes from Ultraviolence that are much better than anything remixed from Born To Die but then whose point am I proving?  Both albums are pretty boring without the help of the remix, sorry Lana.

She's a dreadful, shallow songwriter and is terrible live.

I didn't like her at first, but I think I heard the wrong songs.

It's not surprising that Born to Die was kind of uneven, since so many artists like her now do a number of varied style songs before hitting it big and then, with their first album, just compile those songs and add some more. Paradise was also a fairly typical modern follow-up, with a much smaller track list, but it was surprisingly solid. Ultraviolence, however, was the really consistent masterwork. I felt like it really hit a consistent level of quality and really showed her ability as an artist and her particular niche as a writer.

The songs she writes cannot be called 'shallow' by any means, aside from a few of the tracks from Born to Die, which were early works likely done to test the waters. The thing about Lana is that just because she writes a song about something, it doesn't mean the narrative is of her, or that she agrees with it or that it really in any way applies to her life. I find it kind of interesting and kind of sad that, especially in the case of female artists, it's often assumed that it must be so, when such an assumption is ludicrous from the start.

I did take some exception with her tendency to toss in profanity where it didn't always belong, but over the years she's balanced it out to where it fits very well and serves a good and useful purpose. It took me a while, but now I'm a fan of her work. I don't know how I'm going to feel about the upcoming Honeymoon, but Ultraviolence was a superb work of a strong artist.

Love her, she belongs in a David Lynch movie.

I like her and how she's becoming much more honest with herself in each new record.

Honeymoon > Ultraviolence > Born to Die

I like all these three albums, however. "Video Games" may be my favourite song of hers.

I somewhat liked her debut but she's been nothing but boring and repetitive since so.
