The Indian city of Bangalore witnessed its first ever "Queer Hugs" organized by a group of LGBT persons. This group stood at important road cross and junctions holding placards offering free hugs to anyone who are ready to accept. Being first of its kind in Bangalore, it drew mixed reactions from various people. Some people who already knew about LGBT could relate to, while some were totally indifferent. A few homophobic backlash was also observed. SOme members from gay community also criticised this event. An experience of a person who participated in this event is outlined below :-
