      @AlexisB:

      @addic2porn if you're looking for black magic themed horror film, try the thai movie serial called ART OF THE DEVIL.  😉

      I watched the 3 trailers and it is very scary but barbaric and sadistic… seems actual person are tormenting each other rather than dark forces

        More like the magic backfires to those who use it. Good thing about them, especially the first one is that there is a lesson to it. And a few big twists! But yep. a bit barbaric and sadistic. Disturbing, at least.  >:D

          I don't know why people say Jaws is scary…. I don't find it scary though...

            The laughing Man, a movie that led to the creation of one of Batman's most lethal and scarier foe ever: the Joker.

            ::)

                I may have a tendency for dramatics and have been known to overreact at the slightest hint of an unexpected sound but I saw a bit of scary today like never before.  I don't even know what drew me to it, maybe the name seemed odd & caught my attention like a little shiny something something, maybe it had my number and was calling me direct.  Either way it was full on afternoon and the sun was shining bright and I remember actually thinking to myself "How scary can it be during the day?" not realizing the film knew this and decided to mess with me.

                It was all found footage like and kind of disjointed (I may have also dozed off a little at the start which also makes for some added confusion when I start to wake up & adjust to my reality) so it wasn't necessarily a linear story.  I spent some time trying to figure it out and at the same time I am fairly certain the film was using some sort of new google technology to figure me out.  The film won because it had me jumping out of my skin, I pulled myself off of the ceiling and said "Nope no way" when I turned it off.

                I am scared to go to bed because I just know it installed something and is going to make me wet the bed just because it can.  I think The Screwtape Letters is probably the worst book ever written but I still feel comfortable mentioning it by name, I will not say the name of the film just so you can't blame me.

                I do not recommend it one bit, I think it's the type of crazy that is contagious and makes me worry for the human race as a whole.  It's not the scariest film I ever watched because I refused to see it through but maybe I am less a man than I pretend to be.

                Here be monsters:

                  I'm going to have to check some of these out.  I agree the "The Changeling" (1980) with George C. Scott is probably the spookiest ghost story I have ever seen. "The Haunting" (1963) is also scary on that score. Diabolique (Dir.  Henri-Georges Clouzot, 1955) had me in suspense on the edge of my seat for much of the movie, but I can't say why without giving too much away.

                  For horror in general: in the late 1990s, many Japanese horror films started being released in the USA. I saw Takashi Miike's film "Audition." I did not watch any Japanese horror films after that – that was enough for me!

                        Hmm…no love for the French film known in the US as "High Tension"?  That was one of the best horror films to come out in the early 2000's.  A second from me would be "A Serbian Film" already previously mentioned.  That was one real mess with your mind movie.

                          "The Changeling" (1980), by far.

                                Insidious played on my fear of getting robbed…..terrified the hell out of me. Plus the "music" was unsettling.

                                        Even though horror is my favorite genre, fun and entertaining, i dont get scared anymore by it anymore.
                                        Saying that, i thought Lake Mungo was quite unnerving, the scenes at the beach sent chills down my spine like nothing else i've seen.
