The last one had a story mode.
It's also served as a reboot of sorts to the franchise.

i think I played a LITTLE bit of it…I had gotten it through gamefly, and it was OK, but had other games I wanted to get to lol. even though I ended up canceling my subscription anyway lol

Give a try to the story mode. It has an amazing storyline.

If memory serves me right, yes.
The game, in the story mode, starts where Armageddon left off and goes back all the way to the first tournament.
