I have not felt uncomfortable by trimming but hey, do both and choose which one you prefer!  🙂

A few always go ingrown and gross when it starts growing back. Trimming, but not too much, is definitely the way forward.

On other guys I don't like it to be shaved, either trimmed or even completely unkempt is fine.

For me, a bread trimmer cutting the fur down to about a quarter in has been best.
