It is amazing how the freeleech staff makes you happy. You enjoy the task of checking the FL every day. What a happy task. After all, you are poor. You do not have the SBP to waste, like the fortunate people.
You are the lucky one. wahooo. You found out serious hotties that other poor users did not find. Now you can dream about the hypothetic future event, that will allow you to freeleech something of value, not just trash.
Yes, you really have hopes. hopefully you will get something you may even like. Not just that, you may even get some precious points.
Now, what about a totally new idea? Make the poor users of the site richer? So they will afford to buy what they want?
How about a revolution? change the rules?

there can absolutely be some amazing stuff on freeleech, but you basically have to check the FL list every day; as who has the SBP to waste to make FL for many days in a row.

i have personally found some serious hotties from FL; and if i think something was seriously hot and has some low-file-size copy, i will freeleech that just to share with others. i need a big red "freeleech this!" button my desk XD

also, a secondary (or main) purpose of FL is so you can get something (hopefully popular, because free and maybe also good) to seed yourself and get credit.

considering putting things on FL costs seedbonus, generally i'd think users will not spend SBP on putting things on FL they dont at least personally like or think they will attract download attention from, so aside from the autoFL and modFL i do think the idea of FL being filled with trash isn't too accurate. it really is a mixed bag… sometimes you get lucky.

and the UL credit you get from seeding FL lets you get other stuff.

The ONLY way to gain points and keep the balance is by uploading files that very few (relatively) will use. All other methods have lots of promise and huge disappointment.

I use an older (2011) Mac Mini, since it has a persistent connection unlike my MacBook.

I have a 20 Mb/s upload from my provider, so I must set the upload limit to about 1024 KB or less so it doesn't get flooded. If it does, the governor basically gets lost and the app becomes unresponsive, requiring a force quit. Basically, this happens several times a week, even with the limit carefully set. Hopefully this problem will go away when I upgrade to Gigabit with 50Mb/s upload ;D.

I also get lots of torrents that show up tagged as tracker error, but often they still keep seeding anyway.

Also, I occasionally find older torrents with a small number of seeders and make them freeleech with my bonus points. That usually generates a lot of traffic and I can get to 4x or 8x ratio or more on those torrents.

What most people ( especially new users @ GTru ) mostly never think of is the difference betweeen "open tracker" and "private tracker". To join in to an "open tracker", you don't have to be registered. You just download the torrent and start leeching/seeding. The "open tracker" doesn't care about your ratio and the "jump and run" mentality of some users is a great way for decent sharer to raise up their own ratio very quickly and the good and the bad sharer never have to worry about it.

The contrast is a "private tracker", like GTru and especially because we have a rationator here as well. I would say, that we don't really have any "jump and run" users here, because if they are some, they are pretty quick disabled, because of their bad ratio. So we actually are ALL good sharers here, which results to less upload from each user @ GTru.

Remembering this, you will come to the conclusion, that it IS much more difficult, to have a good ratio when you are new here @ GTru… but during the time, you are getting used to the rules, become a good seeder and the ratio will raise up, even with a very slow connection, because you will CARE about it and don't ruin the community with a jump-and-run mentality. You will understand that sharing isn't meant by grabbing all as soon as possible and only give back a tiny little percentage of it back, but at least 0,5 times of what you actually downloaded from others, best is 1,0 and 1,5 times will give you a small buffer for the next torrents you desire. You might not like the idea of downloading stuff, which you aren't interested in, just because there are a lot of leechers and you might increase your ratio with such unwanted stuff and the final result will be, that your buffer increases as well for your next torrents, you may even reach some goals with that unwanted stuff in your account, so that your limits will increase to download more and more torrents a day. And if you would like to reach such goals a bit faster, you upload torrents yourself, probably even something, that you don't really like, but what will probably attract a lot of leechers.

... WoW !!! That sounds pretty easy and that all sounds as well like a nice community, where users SHARE and don't only think of their own needs... well yes... it IS pretty easy and this is why I am a longterm member here @GT ru. ^^

This is EXACTLY my issue… i've contacted the helpguys about this, and im afraid they pinpointed to my torrent client as the culprit (specifically the NAT). Ive checked my torrent client and the settings, and everything seems fine (i.e. IP filter disabled, max uploading set as reasonably high as possible). But sadly, the files i was seeding were not being picked up. (...)

Those settings (IP filter disabled and uploading set reasonably high) aren't the first points to look at to make a torrent client (here Tixati) connectible.

The first is to make the NAT aka portforwarding working. The usual method is to get this done automatically through UPnP. It assumes that your modem/router (the box from your ISP) has been left at its defaults settings and you haven't disabled UPnP in ti's settings for improved security.

How UPnP is set in Tixati can be found there > http://www.tixati.com/optimize/router-port-forward.html

I'd recommend to use a port in the 30 000 range

Then you need as well to make sure that your firewall(s) don't block incoming connections on these ports. You may use multiple firewalls: the Windows built in and the one which comes with your Anti-virus / Internet Security. Both need to be set to allow incoming connections to Tixati on the port you set to use for TCP and UDP.

Next I'd reboot the modem/router and the computer, to be sure the UPnP fort forwarding is re-initialized.

If you use a VPN or Proxy service, you should consult it's help and FAQ pages to see if something special needs to be done for port forwarding. I had one a proxy service not allowing portforwarding (BT Guard), causing tracking issues with GayTorrent.ru, then a VPN forwarding "all" ports and now a VPN forwarding only a dedicated port, which needs to be set in the torrent client as the port used.

There can be other security software blocking connections, such as anti-spy ware, anti adds, child protection etc… if you use some of these, consult their Manual, Help and FAQ pages for allowing incoming connections.

Pretty sure that was sarcasm ??? and I'm not really your dear friend (although I strive to be informative and friendly) and sorry i couldn't be more definitive: I can only go with what i see but seems there's others with the same issue and looks like it is being addressed hopefully, to everyone's satisfaction.

ajax0980

Reply to Something is definitely wrong with this site or the trackers on this site on Wed, 03 Sep 2014 01:01:37 GMT

Mind you, the first 3 ones got seeded SO quickly, so i never had a problem before. And i never consciously picked those files with high leechers/low seeders... But since i started downloading more than 3 files, then the seeding problem started.

So the solution? Its either i download only 1 every time so as to have enough time to offset the download with the seldom seeding. Or change my taste in videos entirely and download popular vids people like which do not turn me onir at all, just to get my seeding ratio high.

Like you, i could pinpoint a chokepoint in the credit system here, and i could see that the donation option was put in place for those who are really conscientious with their ratios. But that's a system we just have to live with, i guess. :blownose: :blownose: :blownose:

Btw, i havent been downloading for 2 weeks now, just because i decided to join the noble cause of downloading and hopefully seeding a rare 51GB Island Caprice collection... So im afraid im "stuck" at the moment... :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:

The reply i got from our dear friend Ajax...

_*Why am I listed as not connectable? (And why should I care?)

The tracker has determined that you are firewalled or NATed and cannot accept incoming connections.

Although you are still able to download from others, anyone who attempts to download from you is not able to 'see' you and is therefore connecting with others whose client is readily available. This could be a simple firewall exception issue or, more likely, a NAT port forwarding issue:

(from Wiki>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation
*Network address translation (NAT) is a methodology of modifying network address information in Internet Protocol (IP) datagram packet headers while they are in transit across a traffic routing device for the purpose of remapping one IP address space into another. The term NAT44 is sometimes used to more specifically indicate mapping between two IPv4 addresses; this is the typical case while IPv4 is the majority of traffic on the Internet. NAT64 refers to the mapping of an IPv4 address to an IPv6 address, or vice versa.

I'm not totally familiar with the Tixati Client that you use, but I do know it offers an IP Filter feature which could be affecting your connectability.

I use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which specifies I turn OFF my IPv6 address (see WIKI reference above) to be able to maintain connectability, (you can find this in our SETTINGS in Tixati) Not sure if your issue is the same (I also use uTorrent v2.2.1 which is considered the most stable of the torrent clients).

Hope this helps a little but also check your client settings and reading their forums related to torrent traffic. I've done a little research and found this> http://download.cnet.com/Tixati/3640-2196_4-11466492.html?v=1 (which is an OLDER version of your client but maybe similar issues)_

The minimum ratio requirements need to be further adjusted. I've uploaded 1.72TB on this site. This was only possible because I strategically downloaded torrents that I knew were in high demand… meaning that I knew as soon as they were downloaded that they would seed immediately and for a long period of time. This has frustrated me greatly, but I haven't found an alternative within the current ratio requirement framework for this site.

I have the same problem. Torrents/trackers from other sites will continue to seed after I've completed my download and give me good ratios. I tend to think there is just a different type of user for this site and for some reason the demand is not that high. Which is very odd as, of the four sites I visit for torrents, this one has by far the largest offering.

Or the site owners have found a way to get people to donate to get their ratios up and not lose access by managing traffic…but that's just a conspiracy theory. Doubt that would happen.

Actually it is a side effect of high minimum ratio requirement: This leads to members really keeping seeding long and not to stop the torrent as soon as the download is complete. Therefore there is more "competition" in seeding and it is more difficult for each to upload.

Then the high ratio requirements lead too more offering too ( about 2.5x than the closest competitor in the gay torrents niche). Due to the high ratio requirements, members consider twice to download and these downloads split up on more offers. result: less downloads per torrent.

Members need to understand that their download will improve the ratio of someone else, who then can download more. We need more downloads!
