Thanks so much for this detailed guide, Pawpcorn.
I did the 'downgrade' and everything worked fine - so I went ahead and deleted 3.4 from Users/…/roaming.

THEN I found that the Search box in 2.2 is a web search - not a torrent filter. :afr:
Yes - 3.4 is buggy as hell - but that torrent search filter in 3.4 is REALLY handy….

Lucky I followed your instructions to the letter - and had kept a copy of 3.4 - which I could drop it back into Users/…/roaming.
Would have been really easy for you to leave the 'back-up' section out of the instructions - I'm so glad you included it!  Thanks.

Thanks, I was able to installed utorrent 221 but the problem is when I upload files using "quick torrent maker" after it gives popup "upload complete" it will automatically open the utorrent 344 instead of utorrent 221. thus, the upload always fail. what is the best way to get rid the utorrent 344?

Back when I was getting plagued with all the damn internet shopping sites popping up out of the blue… it took me a LONG time to finally figure out that I hadn't gotten infected with some awful Trojan/virus... but it was actually uTorrent causing all the havoc...

THEN when I went searching for ways to defeat this... and saw that downgrading was the ONLY solution... I started searching for what was considered the MOST stable (last of the best) versions of uTorrent, which turned out to be 2.2.1 build 25302.

Point of the story is... when I was doing this research, I came upon one guy's comment that in all his experience of searching for various fixes for various software packages... he had NEVER before SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE perform "searches" for "Downgrade _________" as in the case of uTorrent...

and his point was... with THAT many people "in the same boat" of being totally disgusted with uTorrent's so-called "stable" release... that THAT FACT ALONE should send a message to the uTorrent people to do away with the insidious ADWARE in their product!!!

They NEVER DID, tho, and they always avoided or evaded the topic in their so-called "helpdesk"... and that, in itself says something about the company, itself.

Thanks for the guide  🙂  Don't like where new uTorrent is going, and qBittorrent is still missing a few features

After Bittorrent went commercial, I switched to µtorrent, but for the past couple of years, they've grown quite fat…

Now I always use Deluge or Transmission (also for Windows).

And a big THANK YOU from me too, Pawpcorn.
Was so sick of waking up to find that the 'new better improved' version of uTorrent would eat up to 80% of my RAM overnight and everything else ran slow as a result.
                      You've saved the day!

I think you'll need to run the UNINSTALL program for QuickTorentMaker… then download the QTM install program again, and THIS time... in the box for where your uTorrent program resides... point to the new, CURRENT location for your 2.2.1 uTorrent .exe program.

Mine happens to be at:  "C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe"

You can right-click on the uTorrent program in your taskbar... and select Properties... to see the actual location for uTorrent.exe on your computer.

Good luck, and sorry for being so tardy on replying to your post.

Thank you for the kind words!!! You "neglected" to mention the damned MALWARE that the current versions install… which is what got me here, in the first place...  :crazy2:

I get a LOT of help desk questions, almost every day, regarding "issues" (a polite term for bugs and problems) with Version 3.n.n uTorrent, so I decided to write this following guide. If you see any errors or omissions, please don't hesitate to PM me, or add comments, below… Enjoy!!!  :cool2:

The latest version of uTorrent become your worst nightmare?

Thank You!  This is exactly what I needed!  uTorrent had become a nightmare to keep working properly.  The retro version works perfectly again.

Hey Pawpcorn, you still recommend 2.2.1?  Boy, this is going to take some getting use to!  I miss my graphs that show the download percentage go, go and go!  🙂

YES, and 2.2.1 have status tabs that will tell you ALL OF THIS INFORMATION at a glance  {numerically}  :cheesy2:

Yes but I'm use to seeing the green graph moving:)

One question, any idea how to fix the "disk overload" issue?  It kept popping up and running my HD at 100%.  I watched a youtube vid that suggested to go into preferences/advanced/disk cache and change "override automatic cache size and specify the size manually (MB)" from the default number (and I don't remember what that number was now) to 1700, that seems to have fixed my issue but was wondering if that was legit or not?

I'm going to work out, will check back later.

Thanks as always for your prompt replies

Sorry, I haven't had that problem, so haven't had to deal with that, myself.

If you can find that youtube video again…??? please post the link here, I'd like to see that, and the advice there, was probably sound.
