it says there are 10 peers (9 seeders, 1 leech) but it only seems to be connecting to one peer. I'm pretty amateurish when it comes to torrents, in general, and I have no idea what the issue could be. Does anybody know what the issue could be?

Some you don't control, e.g. the bandwidth at the seeding peers and their seeding priorities.

However, there is an important thing you can change, which should lead to better download (and upload):

Your µTorrent is not connectible. Make it connectible.

There can be multiple reasons why µTorrent isn't connectible. The first things to do:
a) Enable UPnP and NAT-PMT port forwarding in µTorrent's connection settings
b) Enable the Windows firewall exception in µTorrent's connection settings

Then restart µTorrent.

You can test if that made your µTorrent connectible: µTorrent > Options > Setup Guide > select the "Network" test only and run it. The result should be a green check sign (=connectible) , not a yellow/orange (not connectible)

If not connectible, try to reboot your modem/router (the box to connect to the internet) and test again when the internet connection is back.

If still not connectible, you should look at your anti virus / internet security software. It might be necessary to create an exception for incoming connections for µTorrent on the port selected in µTorrent's connection settings.
