<p dir="auto">Anyone have suggestions of a good program.  I am willing to pay a little if I am getting the answer to my editing problems!</p>

<p dir="auto">For Mac you can use iMovie, I use it for cutting video up all the time - I think that'll cover your needs.</p>

It is open source freeware. Not a full fledged time line video editor, but you can cut out parts of a movie and assemble them. No transition effects between scenes.</p>
<p dir="auto">If you choose stream copies, no re-encoding is made, but to assemble with stream copy, all parts need to have the same encoding. I guess that is a limitation all video editors have. The other choice is to re-encode, but that is always with losses.</p>
<p dir="auto">There is as well VirtualDub, but it is very hard to use (especially if the source is not .avi) and packs only into the .avi format. So I do <strong>not</strong> recommend it here.</p>
