Xbox One vs Playstation 4
-
I don't see the difference in performance of either machine but from what I have seen in the previous gen consoles Playstation had the better games and that's what it boils down to. Both Sony and M'soft should focus on building better gaming machines + games and show less concern for replacing the PC/TV.

Happy with my Xbox One purchase. Can't wait for Titanfall and Quantum Break!

PS4 is great. Although the games are slim right now… but loving what I have on it already.
GDC next week will hopefully reveal more games coming as well as E3 not too far away

The anti consumer policies that the they had when they first introduced the console showed me just what kind of company Microsoft is and it's not one that I want to do business with. I know that they changed their policies about used games and the always on internet connection but to me the damage was already done.
I'm with you there, agree wholeheartedly, the fact that Micro$oft do whatever they want is a huge problem, not as big as their followers screaming out "this is good" just because M$ claimed it to be though… (win7 compared to XP where I've only seen polite requests for allowing changes back to the XP way with the followers screaming about how great that specific feature is, noone from the "XP crowd" has ever asked for a feature to be removed only the option to revert back on their own PC's)
Xbone seems to be putting too much emphasise on other things besides gaming as well, like all the TV bullcrap. I don't watch TV so I don't need all that crap.I want my console to play games everything else is pretty much unused features for me.
Agree with that, I want my console for gaming as well, OK I can find it useful with a friends-list and being able to talk with them online, the main reason to have a console is however to play games.
But with all that said I don''t really use any console […] I prefer playing games on my PC and won't even think of playing a FPS on a console. […] When I play a FPS with a controller it takes me 2-3 seconds every time I aim my gun so I'm completely useless in multiplayer. Give me a keyboard and mouse though and it's a whole other story.
I'm again with you there, which is why I don't play FPS's on the console - I've thought about getting a mouse/controller combo though - and I've been playing quite a lot of FPS's online, starting with the Quake demo back in -96. (even if I don't play them online anymore there's no controller that beats the mouse for accuracy and speed)
With all this said - as I'm quite happy with my 360 - if I get a new console the choice isn't clear as I'm quite a big fan of Forza and it's Micro$oft branded so I might be forced to go with it due to loving that series and that franchise is the only reason that makes me even consider the ONE, had it not existed I'd be all over the PS4… (time will tell, I'm in no rush to get a new console)

PlayStation 4 :crazy2:

All have been day one purchases: Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U. And i still have the playstation 3, xbox 360, and the Wii. Also the Vita and the 3ds.

I decided to get the Xbox One first and I'll buy the PS4 later. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that both units are not backward compatible which means I have to keep my PS3 and Xbox 360 around :(.

on ps4 you can stream ps3 games with play now. so it's kinda backward compatible.

The point the other poster was making is that you have to have both the PS3 and PS4 to play your already owned PS3 games. The same with Xbox.
Micro$oft and $ony are both still putting out games (ie: the new Grid game) only for their previous gen consoles to keep us attached to them.
I honestly think they are doing in cynical way to justify (called artificial value inflation) the £50 price tag on the latest gen games.

From what I've seen the streaming is essentially like renting the game, which seems a shame. PS3s are fairly inexpensive at least.
As a sorta aside, I pretty much stuck to the Xbox360 for the past generation and my old PS2 which has been slowly wearing down, so I looked into getting a PS3 to play all the older PS1&2 games along with the PS3 games, and learned they apparently downgraded the PS3 in its later versions to make it cheaper. I pretty much figure I'll just look for a used PS3 80 GB (since that's the largest HD version of the PS3 that can play all the of the older games), but it is funky that we have to work around these issues like this.
I don't think I'd even care about the backward compatibility if they just updated their emulator library they do for the PSN to include some smaller titles like Rule of Rose.

ps4 is the best

Updating my thoughts on this matter, 2015 will be the year of videogamers the rooster of titles blows anyone mind, xboxone in pros is having less problems loading up levels apparently, in cons it has less titles to be due in 2015 which might make a tipping point, ps4 pros are the titles really (let's hope with less glitches than ubisoft) the cons is that the network is paid and for now shitty, meaning buying patches and more patches (also expect some severe loading times for now in some games)
I'll wait for the price drop to get a ps4

I recently bought a ps4 and it's pretty cool, but I don't like that you can't use external harddrives with it, essentially rendering it useless as a home media device. The games this year look awesome, though.
