I notice that torrents with similar themes appear all at the same time. Is this intentional? Also can dead torrents become freeleech? One time I came across a dead torrent and a few days later it became freeleech and was resurrected. I'm just curious about how this works.

this is just a guess, i do know that the system picks torrents automatically because i was told by one of the staff members, but the exact logic behind it is unknown to me.

the staff will also make some endangered torrents freeleech when they come across them, when someone mentions the link here in the forum or when they ask directly in the "At Risk" topic that is dedicated to this.

The reason you see similar items pop up together is because people will request multiple uploads featuring the same performer/studio/theme.
