You said there was tracker.gaytor.rent in the hosts file. Can you edit it and put a "#" informant of that line. That will comment that entry out.

it is that entry of the host file which short circuit the domain server requests and avoids that your µTorrent connects to the right IP of our server.

Alright I did this and it worked. I am downloading fine, going to try uploading soon. Thank you and Speedmaster so much for all of your help.

Please reboot again, after a modification.

If this solution isn't working for you, we will need further informations about the errors you get. Could you please specify the bittorrent - programm you are using, so that we could tell you, where you find these error messages?

Speedmaster should I copy and paste what you have into my hosts file?

You don't have to edit any other file than the "host" file.

Here is the original content of a hosts - file:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1 localhost
#	::1             localhost

Anyways I tried the way you said just in XP format.

I opened notepad as admin, went to file > open > changed files of type to all files > > Windows > system32 > drivers > etc > I have 5 files, hosts (which is what I opened) lmhosts, networks, protocol, services. anyway I opened hosts, it tells me this is a file containing mapping of ip addresses, anyways it shows my ip along with local host then it showed another ip possibly my own with www.gaytor.rent then tracker.gaytor.rent after another different ip. So what I did was is delete www.gaytor.rent and the ip address then saved the document. I haven't tried restarting yet, ill give that a try and let you know if it changes or not.

In the past when gaytorrent went down I wasn't able to get on. Then I heard it was back and tried getting on but I kept getting an error saying something along the lines of a DNS problem. so I googled a solution because I didn't know how to contact the website and I ended up changing my DNS to where it worked with gaytorrent. Just recently after the changes made to the server recently I have been having problems and am unable to download/upload. I will let you know if it works or not after rebooting but I am not sure. Thank you for your help.

It was the case on one of my PCs.

To correct that with Windows Vista and 7:
1/ In the Start menu select Accessories > right click on Notepad and select to start as administrator
2/ In the Notepad select File > Open > navigate to C:/ > Windows > System32 > drivers > etc
3/ Select in Notepad to show all files bottom right instead .txt files only, open the hosts file you'll see

If you see entries for gaytor.rent and gtru.net, just put an # sign in front of them or delete those line.

Save the file, which will only possible if you opened notepad with right mouse click as administrator as said upstairs.

ATTENTION: Do NOT touch any other entries, wrong manipulation may result in loosing internet navigation.

Feedback if it helped or not is appreciated.

This is rather to exclude that possible cause. Normally the hosts files should have been corrected by active members already at the previous changes some months ago. However I had still at least one case this time on the Helpdesk.
