We will see, if Merchan declares mistrial. But he has several possible motives to.

First: Merchan would stop embarrassment of his blatantly fake & wrong trial being overturned on appeal.

Dems may think "mistrial" is their best outcome. Proceedings end & President Trump isn't really convicted, yet, Merchan's daughter can still say he was, in her fundraising.

Such Dems would be wrong because, every time they say "Trump is convicted felon" - they enrage ordinary people, to Trump's benefit.

But, it's a rare Dem who can see when she's wrong. Merchan & his fundraising daughter, could think that mistrial-limbo is their ideal result.

If Merchan has some smarts, his possible 2nd motive to declare mistrial: Make whole thing go away. Memory-hole it.

Smart Dems shit their pants lately, seeing Trump raise $400(!) million off his conviction, as his polls hold.

OR - exact opposite reason - if Merchan has really no brains at all - he may want a re-trial, to keep President Trump off campaign trail again.

I'm not sure if New York & USA law allows retrial. But if yes - Merchan could be going there.

Merchan & other Dems could be so stupid, they think that, to lock Trump down in New York again & have further trial headlines, would be good for them.
