That is why most trans get them. They are saying "I'M A NON-CONFORMIST, AND I AM IN UNITY WITH ALL THE OTHER NON-CONFORMISTS!"

(not sure if that is an oxymoron or a paradox)

Queers by definition do not conform, but they have the nose ring as part of the uniform.
